I was wondering yesterday how long it takes to get a full set! :D I can't remember with my big two.
It was because she's being a grumpy teethy baby with her first tooth, and OH asked how long the teething lasts. I said about two years I think.

Last night he had two wakings where he basically screamed the place down - he wouldn't be comforted and hated being held, was a constant fight against him squirming out of my grip. Both times the only thing that eventually soothed him was booby. These two wakings were way more intense than usual, he usually just cries and wants comforting. Then this morning he has been grumpy all morning too, letting out his new little screams frequently, constantly walking to mummy's bedroom door and butting against it... so, sigh! Not that terrible on sleep but not sure what's bothering the moppet quite so much!
I may have said this before so apologies if I'm repeating myself but I find that these occasions are the best for letting them just cry, both my boys do this occasionally and usually if I just put them back down they suddenly stop crying within max 5 mins (usually no more than 1min) When they do this they don't appear to be awake though so not sure if Elijah was obviously awake or not?

I think the need for routine can come from either side, but from my child psychology diploma I learned that the only time it can present problems and need a bit of thought is where there is a mismatch between child rhythmicity (how much they naturally do things at the same times each day) and parenting style (how much routine the parent likes to give).

It's not so difficult when you have routine parents and a non-routine baby, the baby tends to be more like: 'well I wasn't actually peckish mum, but now you've shown me the toast I'll go for it!'.

The scenarios I read about where there can be an issue is with a very routine child with very non-routine parents, since it can create something called 'learned helplessness' in the child which is a risk factor for adult depression.

Without boring you all too much, my summary would be that routines are good if they work for parent and baby. If the two are quite different in temperament, then it's best to go with baby, especially if baby is very high in rhythmicity.

Rhythmicity can be hard to spot in an agreeable child though, so I'm happy to write more about that if anyone would find it helpful.
Would you mind expanding on this for me pretty please? I'm very like Elle has described herself (hates having to be somewhere on time, terrible late record at work, often up late etc) my worry is that Chris is more his Daddy who like to be early for everything (the cause of many an argument in this house :p)
He (Christopher) often tells me to get dressed if I'm in PJs at lunch time and tells me we have to go out :o do you think that is a sign that I should try harder to match him?

MFD/SS I watch bits of Qu times last night - I think NG came across as a bumbling ignorant idiot

How much! Ok, maybe i'll do it myself! Its only six rolls, and really low ceilings so no ladders required! (Shows you how tiny my house really is!)

I'll tell OH i was wrong, and the teething will last about 3 years then! Does the teething get easier?, i mean, does it still affect Christopher now when he gets a new one?
I'm so rubbish - if you ladies didn't know me you'd be amazed to find out i've already done this twice before. :o

Molars are bigger, so have troubled elliot more then the front ones. Not sure if it will get easier, as my friend's little girl is about 6 months older and has been a nightmare this week with teething :( shes only got a couple left now to cut.

3 if you don't want to do it yourself put an ad somewhere giving the dimensions of the room and offering the price you want to pay. You might find that someone who's out of work will do it for the cheaper price, especially with Christmas coming up. They won't do a professional job, but then neither will you ;)
