Jillie - how did you get on with the new teats? Is Kian feeding much better with them? I went and bought a couple of variflow but they haven't made any difference. Holly is still spilling as much as she does with the slow flow teats. I think when I looked into which teats I had, I had already binned the box and found a set on the Boots website which I was sure was what I had bought and they were variflow. Obviously not though!
hi fitzio
yeah he's feeding a lot better, dribbles some but doesnt get frustrated like he must have been doing. takes more in one go rather than 1oz, sleep and then another. have noticed as well that his 'wind' isnt as much but dont know if thats a coincidence. but i dont have to 'burp' him as much as i did before. maybe just once during and after the feed.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Just spoken to the comms nurse. I raised a few issues with another nurse yesterday so our usual one has got back to me now. The issue of formula is still outstanding (); the MRI results have apparently been sent by letter (so no idea how long they'll take to turn up!); but the latest blood results are good and we don't have to go back for two weeks (so a week on Monday)
They raised the issue of Rhys' low weight gain as a problem last week so I've been fretting about it ever since, yet won't give him the calorie packed formula to increase it but still frown when he's not gaining weight quickly. Feels like they've told me it's a problem but won't give me the solution so I'm just left to worry about itAm feeding him as much as he'll take but obviously it's not enough calorie wise - common problem at this stage for prem babies, apparently. Three and a bit weeks to go until we can start weaning.. I have a feeling we'll be left floundering until then and they'll rely on food to boost him
Sounds like they will keep you hanging on until weaning time at this rate. Did you meet with the dietician to see if there were any special weaning needs? 3 1/2 weeks is not long really - it will fly by!!
Could you ask them to fax or email MRI results given the current circs re: the postal strike?
...although, I am guessing that if it were bad, bad news then they might have made a phonecall / got you into the hospital.
CM was nice but young and not 'the' one. She would look after Benjamin without a doubt but her son (off school today) didn't behave in the way that I want my son to behave IYSWIM so not a long term prospect for me.

We're just back from the US Consulate.
To get in, one must first make an appointment online and print out the page confirming your appt. Merely writing down your secure visit password is not acceptable.
On arrival, one stands 5m from the gatehouse and waits for an armed guard to notice. He comes out and first makes you turn off your phone in front of him and surrender any electronic equipment. This includes USB keys.
Then he checks your passports and takes your confirmation page, and then you're allowed into the gatehouse. In the gatehouse, large bags are taken and stored (despite the presence of armed men they do not guarantee you'll get it back); small bags are hand-searched. All one's loose possessions are then X-rayed and you're metal-detected and if necessary wanded and patted down.
Then through the armoured door into a walkway and through another armoured door to the consulate office, where everyone's behind bulletproof glass and there is no privacy.
And this is a service for Americans and their spouses. I'm repulsed by it.
Home, and my poor right boob has been unmilked so long it's solid and the pump's not working. I think a hot bath is in order, although I showered this morning. No hot or red patches though.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Oh dear - shame about the delay going back to workbut the right CM must be out there, you just haven't found them yet!
There was talk of Dr Brown bottles earlier in the thread. I noticed these had 20% off when I was in Mothercare - I can't remember if someone was planning on buying.0 -

Nope, not heard anything from the dietician, but they did say it's a long time to get a referral. I'm seeing the HV on 6th and I know she'll help me, either by advising or by demanding things are moved along. In the meantime, I'm going to keep pestering the comms nurses as they are our go-between to the consultants - and I can moan to their faces when they visit!
I'm going to give it until Monday lunchtime for the letter to arrive and if I've not got it by then (if it's local post, how far away does it go before being delivered to us round the corner?!), then I'll phone and ask the comms nurse to photocopy and fetch what's on his file (she didn't have it in front of her this morning) so I get the letter that way. Scary to think we'll have an answer on Monday..CM was nice but young and not 'the' one. God you are so patient!!! I would be causing uproar if it were me!!!
MIL would look after Benjamin like a shot but I will only let her have him 1 day a week on a long term basis (we have agreed on Wednesdays and she insists on cooking dinner for hubby and I whilst she is here!!).
She is on holiday the 1st week in November, hence having to delay for a weekbut I am sure she would jump at the chance to do the 3 days a week I need until I find somebody suitable.
