Glad the teats made a difference then Jillie. I think Holly is likely to drain a bottle no matter how much we put in it! I have started to make up 6oz bottles today as we were trying to hold back on her finishing the 5oz ones so we had leverage if she wouldn't go to sleep! She doesn't always finish the bottle but I figure it's worth wasting some to keep her satisfied. I think sometimes the sucking is a comfort to her when she is distressed with trapped wind. She will take a soother occasionally, although usually spits it out after about 5 minutes and more often than not doesn't want it, which I am fine with.

SS - I am sure I have heard that the US embassy in London is exactly the same, so must be like that everywhere!

Think it might have been Workinmummy who was going to get Dr Browns bottles??

Right, I just made bottles and used the microwave steamer, but I forgot to put the 200ml water in it to steam it! There was some water it when I took it out as I had washed and rinsed the bottles first, but not as much as you are meant to put in. I have made up the bottles before I realised. Any ideas if it will cause a problem? Should I chuck the bottles and make up fresh to be on the safe side or do you think they would be ok? The were steamed up when I took them out. Stupid baby brain!

I think it's more that I generally don't have a clue what day of the week it is, due to most days being the same. I do feel bad, but then again there is nothing we can do but wait for news anyway!

Searching - we have a hoover parts shop in town, it specialises in Vax. Let me know if you need fairy assistance!

Oh Jillie, can you PM your Eastenders scoop! :D Nevermind - just seen your fb update. THAT'S SO WRONG!

God you are so patient!!! I would be causing uproar if it were me!!!

They'll be uproar if my milk supply goes down any and we need the formula cos I literally can't feed him, but for now it's documented every time I ask so they know the ball is in their court and they can't complaint to me if his weight gain remains low  I know they (and we!) don't want to put his kidneys under more strain but they started out saying his weight gain was the big issue and started me worrying, and now they've swung back the other way and said they don't want to give him formula until they've checked with the kidney specialist.

In the meantime, anyone got any ideas for how to boost the calorie content of my milk? Probably should have asked this waaaaay before now! :o I am eating 3 meals a day now plus [STRIKE]chocolate[/STRIKE] high-cal snacks, yoghurts, semi-skimmed milk and fruit juice.
MIL would look after Benjamin like a shot but I will only let her have him 1 day a week on a long term basis (we have agreed on Wednesdays and she insists on cooking dinner for hubby and I whilst she is here!!).
She is on holiday the 1st week in November, hence having to delay for a week :D but I am sure she would jump at the chance to do the 3 days a week I need until I find somebody suitable.

Sounds like my mum! Have to wrestle Rhys off her every time we go...

Elle, Breast compresion and pumping from an empty breast may increase fat content in breast milk, but your diet doesn't. It is still important to eat a good diet (and regular meals too) for over all quality of milk. Massage prior too expressing and compression during expressing is your best bet.

BUT, DS2 was formula fed and still underweight, he didn't seem to catch up till he was well over a year old, then he suddenly started to make up for it.
