Susan Agreed with the social worker stigma! I was terrified when DS's school suggested he should have a social worker - I thought it meant I was doing something wrong!
But our area seems particularly bad, we waited 4 years to be assigned a social worker, and hes not a 'proper qualified' one yet! And tbh - seems pretty useless!
Lots of children in DS's school get respite - weekly or monthly. But when I asked about it I was told there was an 8 year waiting list, then was called back to be told the waiting list was so long it was closed for the time being!
But, I think i'm my own worst enemy. Mum says I cope too well with everything, and if I want serious help, I need to phone social services on a Friday night and tell them i'm dumping DS on their doorstep if I don't get help. But i'm not the type to do that!Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

3 - you are not a boring ironing lady. I also iron muslins therefore I think of you (as well as violet) as a kindred spirit!!
mfd - I think of you as the wise one, but you've also helped me remember that I am a wife as well as a mummy.
Our night out last night started off rather shakey, but we ended up having a lovely time - some tapas and red wine. I hope to do it again soon. The really exciting news is that I'm having a night/day off this weekend.
My sister and mum are meant to be doing a cake decorating course on sunday, but my mum can't make it as she's had to race off to look after my grandmother who is in hospital after a bad fall (she's 93, she fell because she's refusing to use a stick in public and she's stable and about to go into surgery - she also lives 5 hrs away from my parents!). Anyway, I've been offered the spare place and decided to go. Mostly because I'm complaining that I'm needing a break from my walking monsterand also because I couldn't think of a reason why not to have some 'me' time. It's a bit of a drive there and back, so Hubby suggested I have the night off and stay at my parents on saturday night and take advantage of having a lie in etc He's actually a great hubby
Still not 100% sure if i'll go through the night before or not - but I'm excited regardless
susan - what a pretty dress. Does Alice ever wear dungarees? I'm finding it very hard to find some for LO that aren't denim. I like them as they keep her 'all in one' unlike trousers and as her wardrobe is nearly all dresses it's nice to have a wee change now and again. Don't worry - I was missed off the list aswellr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

MFD,
this may be a bad time to ask, since you've just washed your hands of your tender writing process....:D
But when I posted I might have to draft one, you did say I could tell you a bit about mine and you might be able to help.
So if you're still interested in offering any advice, I've altered an old post here to explain more about it.
I was going to PM you, but felt it was like us going off into a corner to have a private chat, when I don't really mind any of my friends on here knowing!
But I didn't want to clutter up the thread now with all the boring details, so that was my way round it.
But please, if it's too much at the mo, just ignore the request, I shan't mind.:A
Lots of love Weezl x

Just got a telling off from the HV (as lovely as she is really).. She said for the first time she's seen me I'm looking too thin and knackered. She's coming back in three weeks just to check up on me
On the bright side, she's well impressed with RhysLeft me info on weaning and one of the nursery nurses will come see us too (apparently it's more them than the HVs here who do more about weaning).
