Hmm not sure Daniel appreciates my taste in music! I'm singing along to Take That (I'm a die hard fan :P) and LO is giving me a look that says "mum stop being daft and play something else!" I fear his father may have brainwashed him against my music :rotfl:

Glam, have you eaten yet? :p

I've had a corned beef salad bun and three slices of Soreen with lots of butter :D Am on my third cuppa since half two as well while I work through OH's finances - some debts are actually close to being paid off, hurrah! :)

Anyone got a failsafe recipe for chewy flapjack please? :)

just do a big load of twinks and spread them out instead of rolling into balls ;)

ETA with extra golden syrup! i'd say double it :)

Try this one Elle- I got it from the OS board and it is amazing!

    Flapjack

Porridge Oats (Tesco's value ones work well), 500g
    Butter, 300g
    Golden Syrup 4 serving spoons
Unsweetended condensed milk, half a tin
    Demerera sugar, 340g

    Method:

    1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees celcius, you may need to search the web to find a conversion to gas mark (1-9) which many ovens are in.
    2. Line the baking tin with baking parchment, this doesn't have to be neat.
    3. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over a medium heat.
    4. Add the sugar and syrup. Keep heating and stirring until all is melted and mixed. Don't rush by turning the heat up, the sugar will start to caramelise etc. If it starts to boil take it off the heat!
    5. Add the condensed milk and mix.
    6. Gradually add the oats, folding them in. All the oats should be coated, and the mixture quite dense, but still sticky. Don't add so many oats that the mixture becomes dry.
    7. Pour the mixture into the tins and spread about so that it lines the tin to a depth of 2-3cm. Fill as many tins as necessary! Don't squash the mixture in, just spread it evenly.
    8. Bake in the oven for ~15mins. If using top and middle shelves swap half way through so they cook evenly.
    9. You should take them out when they just start to go brown round the edges, don't leave longer than this. If they're still squidgy in the middle that's fine, they set on cooking.

I always halve the quantities though as it makes tons!

    Thanks both :)

Something is going wrong with the twinks I've made lately - they're more crunchy than chewy. The ones my Grandma makes are chewy which is what I prefer. Probably our new oven - it's fan assisted electric and I'm used to gas :o

Once I've done this money stuff, I'll make more twinks, or the flapjack version, and pick up condensed milk when I go out later for GISI's version :)

Clover - Wow, your amazing for coping! and GRRR to your EX, what an utter pig! How nice of him to take the children for 2 WHOLE DAYS! Gosh....
I can't offer any advice as I don't know about adhd/social workers, but be worth a shot!

Glam - Ouchie for Jacks belly button! What's wrong with it, and is the cream helping?

SM - Boo to the hoover, everything breaks when you can't afford to replace something doesn't it! My fridge freezer AND washing machine broke 2years ago, at XMAS, just after Oh got laid off. My washing machine wasn't spinning and the fridge was freezing stuff, it was 15years old like!

Susan - That dress is gorgeous! I really need to look on ebay for things like that for Keira as she loves dresses. I must admit, I rarely put her in trousers, even if it is cold, thick tights and cosy boots and a dungaree dress/dress. She actually needs new trousers, she only has a few pairs that fit her, the rest are half mast, and the other ones are too big round the waist!

Well nipped into town again today to get OH's game. The bus home was a nightmare, jam packed with students, I THOUGHT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE POOR? Shouldn't they be walking! I really don't like them, they live near me in the dorms and scream and shout all night, and I had to STAND all the way home on the bus even though I had Keira AND Ellie with me, and 2 heavy bags. Not easy to stop yourself falling over, let alone 2 kids, and no-one even offered me a seat. Stupid students!! Grrrr

Nope, not yet. I was trying to be healthy with the flapjacks! :p

Had best add dark chocolate and more eggs to my shopping list.. :D I put off going to Asda last night cos OH wanted to come. Now he's decided he doesn't want to and he's asleep on the sofa with Rhys so I can't go out yet cos I'm keeping an eye on them both
