last night I called into Morrisons about an hour before closing (I was early for collecting kids from youth club) and hey presto its Whoopsie time. For £15 I have totally filled a tall freezer (bought off ebay cheap last week) with varieties of Morrisons own sliced speciality loaves 9p each, bags of rolls 9p each, fresh baked sausage rolls down from £2 for 5 to 30p a bag, fresh baked individual fruit pies and individual steak and ale piesalso 30p a bag, and whole cooked chickens that were 99p each.
Now I feel inspired to reduce our weekly food bill from £80.:T0 -
PS I heard on the grapevine that Dave is unable to post his menu as he has been hospitilized because of dehydration and malnutrition :rotfl::rotfl:0

So in the brief "list" of what he eats there doesn't seem to be any meat so are we to assume he eats a mostly veggie diet with some tinned fish?
The fact that Dave seems to have ignored repeated requests to give a breakdown of some actual meals etc I am highly skeptical TBH.
I aim for a weekly budget of £40 a week (which doesn't include say 3 yearly stock ups at Costco for meat) and that is a challenge. I cook everything from scratch, never buy branded (most of mine is Sainsbury's Basics) and that's for 2 adults and 2 small kids. This also includes toiletries and cleaning products.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

i normally do a big shop each week for about £40 but i do tend to go to the shops a couple of times a week just to get things that are reduced or on offer there are 2 adults ,3 kids and 2 rotties0

One Tesco Extra I went to when I stayed with a friend, had loads of premium loaves reduced to 4p a loaf. They had packs of chicken breast fillets for 20p.
Our local Tesco here never reduces bread to below 50-60p a loaf, depending on brand. Meat is never reduced by more than 15%.
If I could be assured of getting some fab bargains at the Tesco Extra near my friend, I'd make a special trip, but there's no guarantees and the petrol costs could well outweigh any savings made.
Sorry, Dave, but I just don't buy the £3 a week on food. You say you only drink tap water and the £3 is on food, but you still haven't said exactly what you eat. You surely can't just be eating the reduced bread out of the freezer! Do you only eat one meal a day? I can't see how you can possibly eat three good, (and more importantly, healthy) meals a day for that money.
Come on - put your money where your mouth is and tell us exactly what it is you eat. Meal by meal. Day by day.
We are five adults and a dog, and I spend well in excess of £120 a week.
My local Sainsbury's is exactly the same. Even in my large Tesco the reduced meats are normally all organic stuff and not even that cheap.
If you have the time to shop for the reduced bargains thats great but they normally reduce stuff around the kids bedtime so its not exactly the best time to go shopping :eek:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

I'm veggie, and there's no way I can live off £3 a week, even though I am super frugal and on a diet:eek:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Well I live on my own and have been on the GC this month and have spent £112.06 and have £7.94 left to buy some fruit annd veg on Monday with so thats around £30.00 per week and I like to eat healthily if I can with fish either fresh/canned at least twice or three times plus lots of salads.
For me £30.00 gives me a varied diet with the odd treat thrown in . I find it hard to believe that you can live healthily on £3.00 a week I think he's living in la-la land0
