Hi anyone know where the cheapest place is to get one? Thanks!
Probably here - and they do a wide range of menstrual cups, not just the Mooncup, as you might find a different one suits you better.

I haven't read all the way back but thought I'd mention another way to sterilize these are to use a small microwave sterilizer for baby soothers/dummies.
I got mine from mothercare a few years back. I believe boots sell them too. Perfect size, approx 90secs in the microwave after cleaning with soapy stuff, job done. No special pans or soaking stuff needed.
Just don't buy ones with have 2 compartments as the mooncup won't fit.

I wonder what the rationale behind sterilizing mooncups is? I mean, we don't sterilise any other object that gets inserted in there, do we?!

Speaking as a microbiologist and mooncup user - soap and a thorough rinse is quite sufficient.

i too dont see the point, seeing as even though you sterilise it, it isnt then kept in a sterile environment, between uses

although saying that, i do put mine in bleach, but thats only because i like it to look nice and shiny again

I've never used a mooncup and would like to know a bit more if thats okay. Mainly, how do you clean it if it needs emptying when you are in a public toilet?

the same as if you were using a tampon with no applicator. just remove, tip contents down the loo (not in the bin), re-insert and wash your hands

if you think you do need to give it a bit of a clean before re-inserting alot of people use one of these and a bit of loo roll/baby wipe

i also have baby wipes with me to clean my hands, as it dont want to do the walk of shame to the sinks (but i doubt many tampon users worry about this, and just walk across the room with manky fingers)

Thanks. What about night-times, can you still use the mooncup in bed?

yes you can use it in bed - but on your heavy days you might find that its so full when you remove it in the morning, you get quite a gush down the loo

one other tip when emptying, is to put a wodge of looroll in the toilet pan at the front and above the water line and empty the cup onto this. otherwise if you tip it straight down the loo, the blood just sinks to the bottom of the pan and needs brushing away

You can rinse it with a bottle of water too (in public loos I mean).

I tried the mooncup for a week and have to say i found it really painful. It was like dragging out my womb three times a day.

I love the idea of it as its much cleaner, but not sure i can stand the pain it causes.
