I am considering getting one and have a few questions:
I swim and am not getting on with tampons. Is a mooncup easier to use?
Are there any issues with leaks? Would I need a pad too?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

What isses are you having? I was really nervous swimming in my mooncup but had not a smidgen of a problem (but then I didn't have probs with tampons either). I have never leaked but if you are worried try a pad the first few times until you are confidentWeight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0

However, I have occasionally had leaks with a mooncup, when I haven't got in in right, or I've just got a really heavy flow. (I have endometriosis so that does happen)
I use washable panty liners with my mooncup most of the time now.
I've just got a Meluna cup, although I've been using a Mooncup for a few years now. Does anyone else find the meluna sits higher up, and is therefore a little more difficult to remove? I chose the ball type rather than stem.ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0 -

I use mooncup and use it for swimming and it moves no more than it would usually, if your really worried why not try it towards the end of your period when you are bleeding a little less and see how you get on with it?0 -
I love my mooncup, I used to have horrible cramping when using tampons and dont have any of that with the mooncup, I do find it abit hard work to clean though x0

I have never had any problems swimming with my mooncup in.
I have used one for about 3 years now and it is fab and I don't get any pains through my period like I used to. It never feels uncomfortable - actually you can't feel it at all once it is in.
Would totally recommend.

I have perfected cleaning mine! You know the plastic ball cup things that come on the top of some washing liquids? I leave mine to soak in one of those with quarter of a milton tablet and topped up with water over night, then in the morning put three fingers inside and scrub it with a nail brush, and then turn it inside out and do the same for the inside, it looks like new every month, I got it in 2004/5
:T:heart2: Give blood. :female: Use a mooncup.
But ensure the two are not connected!0 -
I just wanted to add my support for mooncups
I've been using mine....oh must be about 15 months now and I love it. No way would I go back to tampons/towels.
I love how it feels so 'clean' and I don't have to worry about the smell when the blood is in contact with the air (sorry!).
Have to admit, when I first got it, I was nervous, and it took a few days before I got the technique of getting it in and out down pat. Mind you, using it for the first time camping at a festival probably didn't help lol.
I find it less messy than tampons, and I don't get cramps as much now (they used to be really bad) which is a real bonus. I do find dampening it with water or something before putting it in really helps though.
Plus I love the money saving aspect, and obviously the saving the planet bit!carpe diem
