So have many younger girls tried the mooncup? I'm really interested in this, I hate all the waste with normal products. I've read quite a way back into the thread and women who had children are mentioning even the small size would have been difficult before they'd had children... I'm 22, no children.
My experiences with younger women has been that as long as they are comfortable with putting a couple of fingers inside themselves, they have no problems. It just gets easier with practice. Virginity usually means that the vaginal passage is very tight, but I have plenty of young customers who are virgins and in their mid teens and they have also had no problem.I'm free from tampons - another Mooncup Convert!

I have had my mooncup for a few months and have a couple of quesitons, sorry they are 'direct' and might be tmi!
1. What do you store it in when not using? i.e surely the bag doesnt keep it clean? i know i clean it before i use it so maybe i am being over cautious?
2. Mine has discoloured, is this normal?
3. How do you clean it, i boil mine in water, is this enough? also it is stained around the writing & little holes, is this normal? or am i not cleaning enough?- I store mine in the bag, which floats around in the bottom of my handbag so it's always available when i need it (I'm not that regular)
- Reading here it appears slight discolouration is normal!
- Cleaning - I bung mine in the dishwasher (top shelf), which seems to work very well. Occasionally I'll scrub with a toothbrush or soak in milton

I tried to read the whole thread but only got to page 11 and my query hadn't come up so I figured it probably hasn't come up so I'm going to ask
I have been thinking more and more about trying the mooncup but my query is that about 3-4 days before my period starts properly I have spotting and/or dirty brown discharge for those 3-4 days. Usually I just use a light flow pad.
Would the mooncup be ok to use for these 3-4 days aswell as when I am in full flow or should I use pads until full flow starts then use the MC?
Also please double check for me that I need size A? The following is the blurb from the MC site.....
Size A is recommended for women who have given birth vaginally or who have had a caesarean section and are aged 30 or above.Size B is recommended for women who have not given birth or who have had a caesarean section and are aged below 30.
Please note that women over the age of 30 years old are increasingly likely to need the size A regardless of giving birth.
I am kind of going by the last line as I am 33 and never given birth but admit my pelvic muscles probably aren't what they could be
I really would like to be brave and try the MC because usually my periods stop us going anywhere for the first couple of days as I am very heavy and have to take loads of supplies with me(though I am sure that until I trust it not to leak I'll still take loads of supplies with me
)
Thanks in advance for your help & advice.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Hi, Have been lurking and reading this thread for a while and comparing various "cups". Thinking of taking the plunge as i hate tampons and keep leaking, hoping a "cup" would be better after reading some of the information on this site. But can i ask a quick question for a bit of advice; is sizing effected if you are overweight (i am 36, no births)?

Hi Shelley
As Mooncups are non-absorbent, they are fine to use on the light run up and they are equally good for the very heavy days too. If you are exceptionally heavy, then it maybe a good precaution to back it up with a towel at night though. It's a step worth taking and I'd say go for the A cup as it's a little bigger and as you say you are in your 30s now, so you might as well.
Good luck!I'm free from tampons - another Mooncup Convert!

Hi AJ
A cup is definitely much better than a tampon and easily holds the same quantity as a loaf of bread type towel!
If you are significantly over weight it can affect your pelvic toning, but there is no evidence that a few stray pounds effect your toning. You would be an A cup regardless as you are After 30.

I've only just spotted this threat on the forums..
I bought a Mooncup about a year ago, cos I was interested in its 'green' aspects. However, although I thought I'd got the hang of it, it leakedwhich rather put me off.
Am I the only person to have had this problem? Has anyone managed to overcome it? How long did it take to get the hang of it?
I'd like to overcome the problem, as it's a shame to have it sitting there reproachfully in the bathroom cabinet!0 -

Thanks for the quick reply, after back reading this thread i have taken the plunge and placed an order for a "cup". Hopefully this will solve leaking and itching problem (sorry if TMI but plastic backed towels irritate me) as also ordered some washable towels for heavy nights/days!.:rolleyes:Proud to be dealing with my debtCCCS member, Debt free wannable nerd 1237Combined debt total=[STRIKE]sept 09 [/STRIKE][STRIKE]£5679.27[/STRIKE] Nov 09 £4599.46DFD [STRIKE]SEP [/STRIKE] OCT 2012:huh:0 -

A couple of things can cause leaks but the main ones are bad positioning and the cup not being fully open. The cup needs to be worn low and needs to be twisted round to ensure that there are no dimples or folds. Make sure the air holes are clear too. Hope this helps.I'm free from tampons - another Mooncup Convert!
