seeing as ive been using it for years, my mishaps are few and far between, but todays really excelled itself
as i was in a public loo, i had to reinsert the mooncup without washing it first, so its was still quite icky. got it all folded up nice, and then ping, it immediately sprung open, spraying me in the face, with whatever dregs were still on it
So not only did i have to do the walk of shame to the sinks to clean my hands, but also needed to check in the mirror for stray splots!

I guess that perseverance is the key here and sorry to be so graphic, but can anyone give any advice?
It does take a little practice to get used to using it. Like others have said some pelvic floor exercises also help because then you can move it around and get it in the right position easier.
Putting it in I find squeezing the bottom and rotating it helps if its not unfolded. Also tense and relax your pelvic floor to shift it into pace. A similar method works to remove it as it breaks the seal. If you can't reach it the best method is shifting it with the pevic flour muscles or just changing position can make it easier to get to."You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger

Just switch to the mini pill, stops them altogether. Its been bliss the past 4mths, no mood swings, no tummy ache and cramps.
Had to switch to the mini pill on advice from the dr, had the 1st mth with light spotting whilst my body got used to it and been fine since.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

Doesn't work like that for everyone! My periods got a little lighter on the minipill but certainly didn't stop. That was a few years ago, now I've realised that messing aorund with hormones like that isn't good for my short or long term health. I've now been diagnosed with endometriosis, but still want to avoid invasive or hormonal treatments.ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0 -
I agree, ruthiejane. I've just come off the mini-pill and feel better not having my hormones messed about with! Having no periods on it was a good thing but it actually feels more natural to have them!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

I tried 2 types of pill, didn't stop my periods, so I tried depo and that works great. occasonal light bleeding every 3 or so months for the first year, but no pain or throwing up, so I can live with that.0 -
Thought you ladies might find this almost as hillarious as I did - it's a text from my best friend refering to the "seven fold" which I have found to be the best (after just folding it in half twice for three years, not even realising there were alternative ways of doing it) but as you'll get from the text, different folds suit different people:
I just put my mooncup in the way u told me and it didn't pop out till 5 mins later, gave me shock of life.
enough said!:heart2: Give blood. :female: Use a mooncup.
But ensure the two are not connected!0 -
Hi, Ok I've taken the plunge (as it were) on the back of your recommendations and purchased one of these. In Boots they are £21.99 which I thought was a bit dear so I looked on Ebay and got a DIVA cup for £12.00 (inc.p&p). I googled it and noticed they say its exactly the same as Mooncup. Can someone tell me I haven't wasted my money on an inferior product . I'm a bit nervous to use it in case its not that good

I don't think you will have wasted your money flippin, I think the diva is more of a thing on the american market as far as I'm aware when I was reading up on menstrual cups....I also bought mine off ebay, but bought a mooncup...I've been using it 2 months now, I'm getting the hang of it, and I do love it... just need a little more practise, I definitely agree with what some people have said previously, it takes 3 months to figure it out properly and what suits you...but then you're flying. Good luck with your diva cup!0lbs/18lbs to get to club 100
