Thought you ladies might find this almost as hillarious as I did - it's a text from my best friend refering to the "seven fold" which I have found to be the best (after just folding it in half twice for three years, not even realising there were alternative ways of doing it) but as you'll get from the text, different folds suit different people:

What's the seven fold? I didn't realise there were other folds either. Not that I have used it that much recently, due to 2 pregnancies and breast feeding I think I have only had 3 periods in the last 2 years! Should hopefully be a while until I need it again but still interested!
  • Somebody wonderful posted this link on here a while ago which is where I found out about it, although I don't know how many pages ago so reposted here for ease of reference:

I agree with what she says, c fold is the basic one (that I used for years before realising there are alternatives), 7 fold is the one I use now and is my favourite. I tried the punch down fold and it didn't open easily once inside, and I think the mooncup must be stiffer than the diva cup because I couldn't get the origami fold to stay closed long enough!
:heart2: Give blood. :female: Use a mooncup.
But ensure the two are not connected!

Thanks for that, I'd never thought about folding it in different ways, although by the time I need it again once I've had the next baby I probably won't need to fold it at all!

I bought a Diva Cup, but it's way too long for me. I went a bit mad and bought 2 Lunettes, 2 Meluna cups, A Diva and a Mooncup. These things are strangely addictive. Or is it just me?

Btw, Melissa has made some excellent videos on You Tube about cups, here is the one with lots of folds demonstrated:

Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.

I tried 2 types of pill, didn't stop my periods, so I tried depo and that works great. occasonal light bleeding every 3 or so months for the first year, but no pain or throwing up, so I can live with that.

I was on depo in my early 20's and for the first year or two I was fine before I realised it was making very depressed, scared and generally miserable. I was single at the time and found the idea of a man even fancying me was a terrifying, let alone him wanting to kiss me. My advice would be to just be aware that some women do get depressed on it and see your doctor if you do start feeling that way. I love the no period aspect of Depo though!!

I am really intregued by mooncups - I'd always thought of them as rather icky somehow. I am now inspired! Do they only come in one make? Where can you buy them? (sorry if this is covered elsewhere in this thread... I haven't read it all)
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Mooncup is a brand name. There are other brands which I believe are slightly different, Diva cup is one. My local health food/vegan shop sells moon cup, their own website also sells them. I think people have said Boots do but we don't have a branch in this area. Try a google search I'm sure there are plenty of retailers out there!

I bought my Mooncup from e-bay a couple of months ago. It cost me just under £17 including delivery. I thought that was a good price, everywhere else wanted £20+.

For cleaning of it I bought a pack of 2 tesco value toothbrushes for something like 10 or 20p and their own brand of sterilising tablets (of which I will use a quarter of a tablet, as advised on this thread)
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
