I've just used my mooncup for the first time and am very satisfied with it
I am left with a rather money-saving quandary however
What alternative use can I find for all my spare/redundant tampons?
Any creative/resourceful ideas?

I also love my mooncup and faced the same quandary, I had both tampons and towels. I kept a small selection incase visitors are caught out, put a small selection at my parents incase me or my sister needed them in an emergency (very thankfull I did as I had to raid this stash, whilst staying with them for a few days when my periods resumed after the birth of my 2nd) and the remainder I gave to a friend, this was harder than it sounds as most of my friends use mooncups or washable pads.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

As said above, its best to put a wodge of paper down the loo and then empty the cup onto it (unless theres a loo brush handy) as it does tend to to sit in the bowl and not flush away, otherwise. i even do this at home, as ive lost count of the number of times, dd has asked me if ive been eating beetroot!
Thanks for the advice, its so obvious, wish I'd thought of it before, it would of saved my enlightened 4 year old DS saying to me earlier this week "Mum, next time you empty your mooncup, can you remember to flush the toilet" :rotfl:I had flushed I promise.purplelotus wrote: »Somebody wonderful posted this link on here a while ago which is where I found out about it, although I don't know how many pages ago so reposted here for ease of reference:

I agree with what she says, c fold is the basic one (that I used for years before realising there are alternatives), 7 fold is the one I use now and is my favourite. I tried the punch down fold and it didn't open easily once inside, and I think the mooncup must be stiffer than the diva cup because I couldn't get the origami fold to stay closed long enough!
Thank you for the link, I'm going to bookmark it and try a new fold next month. As well as fowarding it to lots of friends.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

About 6 months ago I went onto a pill called Cerazette (progestogen only pill).
I haven't had any bleeding at all since.
My sex drive has increased.
The only downside is that I've put on a bit of weight although that has also conicided with Xmas, a cruise and going hypothyroid (underactive), so I can't be sure it's just down to the new pill.
The lack of bleeding is not guaranteed as it varies.
My friend didn't stop bleeding so you don't know until you try, but for me it's great.
I just thought I'd let people know that there are forms of contraception that mean you don't bleed at all because it might sound stupid but I didn't realise that some women don't bleed at all until I went out with some female friends.
Another one my friends have mentioned to me is the Mirena which is a coil rather than pills, but I'm really happy with what I have.0 -
Hi
I used to think these where gross sounding, but now i'm interested in them.
I used to have heavy periods when i was younger, but not now, i use sanitary towels, and i usually stay at home when i have my period, but staying at home and not leaving the house for 4/5 days isnt very good and is starting to p*ss me off!.
I have never tried tampons, and was thinking of getting some, but im still not liking the idea of a big stick of cotton wool shoved up there for 3 hours
im 27. and.....still a virgin, please dont faint with shock
So, is this ok for me to use?. Where does it sit inside, does it go very deep or just at the entrance to the ......
im not much squeamish when it comes to periods. Oh and whats this thing about having to boil it, i cant imaine doing that, i dont live alone, i cant see me with a pan boiling away with this inside of it
Thanksx
I am in using my mooncup for the first time this month and after a few teething problems I decided to try and find some tips online. I came across this site that sells lots of brands of menstrual cups and wish I had found it earlier:o It gives lots of info about size ,capacity ,cleaning etc. and prices start at just £12 including delivery!

Unlike you I have had 3 kids and have very heavy periods so hopefully my new L Meluna (which I ordered yesterday ) will solve my issues. The smaller cups should be ideal for you

Hi thanks, i've chickened out of the idea now though, i think its the whole idea of having something inside of me for such a long period of time.
Thanks for the links though, will have a look and see if i can be a little confident to buy one~ lilmiss ~0 -
I gave this some thought, but to be honest I will not give up my Bodyform and if i'm selfish about one thing in life then it's my menstrual protection, it has progressed as time goes on and why shouldn't I take advantage of it!0

Are you refering to the advice given that it can be left for up to 8-12 hours?. tbh I found on my first 2 days that every 2-3 was more like, but it was still far better than I could have expected. I lasted all night without leaks which was heaven as I usually have to get up in the first 2 nights too.
I have just recieved my purple Meluna cup and will wait to use it next month ,its softer than my mooncup and that means it will probably be even easier to use and less changes in days 1&2!. I would say have a go at that price (£12) . It took me about 12 months from discovering this wonderful thing to actually buy one ,because I too was a little unsure but I am so glad I did:T The advice given on the menstrual cup website is fantastic and has really helped me get it right first cycle iyswim;).JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. Hi all, just wondering if anyone does running here and uses the Moon Cup?
I know on the website it says you can exercise whilst wearing it but I guess I wanted some first-hand opinions as I'd hate to be running along and it comes out!
Thanks x0 -
I wouldnt think it will fall out because it is designed to create a seal when in place ,and it sort of creates a suction so you cannot get it out unless you break that iywsim! As long as it is positioned correctly it should stay put.JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200

I don't do proper running, just jogging, but there's never been a hint that anything was "loose" :rotfl: Just like running with a tampon in, i.e. you don't notice anything0
