Where can you get them from?
I order organic food from my friend in bulk at "cost price" and a few months ago I was looking at the catalogue and saw the moon cup. As it was the price it was that is why I bought it. So if anyone wants me to order one for them I can do so and post it to you  Although will note, I only get orders once a month.

Freelancemermaid, you only need one, and Mooncup say that it should last you 10 years.

I sell them as I work as an Advisor for Lollipop and the majority of people I mention them to think it's disgusting. Personally I think it's disgusting how much they spend every month, and then where tampons & pads end up, but there you go!

At a Lollipop conference a couple of years ago it was at a very green campsite with composting toilets and wouldn't you know it, loads of us had AF. We were all stressing beforehand what to do, ranging from taking a little bottle of water in with us to rinse it out, to buying a second one, so one could be "in" whilst the other got a good clean. Before we sold Mooncups, we sold something made from Latex called the Keeper which worked in the same way, but it was disconcerting as it was brown! I went for the alternating method using first the Keeper then the Mooncup. I have to say I prefer the Mooncup as it is a tad more comfy and it is made in the UK, but they both got a good roadtest, and nobody dropped one in the composting toilets!

I am finding it a bit tricky and I am getting a bit of a leak on a morning. Not doing very well but give it time....
The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T
  • madmel, you are so right about the disgusting thing being where tampons end-up - i'm a marine biologist, i should know!

call me a baby, i'm just after encouragement to go for it :-) thanks so much for your reply - and the same to everyone else on this thread too.
Boyfriend & I have saved £12K in two years, thanks to careful budgeting and keeping a record of what we spend. I've never paid myself this amount of money before - it feels great!
  • I only just found out these things existed from the Guardian Green Living Guide, and everyone here seems to praise it...
I have a question though, how is it with very heavy flows?
I think I'll have to buy one and give it a try...
  • I don't know if anyone remembers when they first tried tampons? For me it was uncomfortable and wierd and it took a while for me to get used to them but soon I realised how much better they were than sanitary towels (for me anyway) and would never go back. I hope that's what the mooncup will be like. I don't think it sounds yuck, I think it sounds alot more sensible than using a load of tissue that could get stuck(ie tampons). I haven't bought one yet as I'm hoping to find one cheaper, I know it will save me money in the long run but at the moment I have no money where as in the long run (when I have a proper job) I will have money.
  • just stumbled on this thread and am very interested, ive only just started to have periods again and am again very annoyed at the price of tampons, so am going to take the plunge and buy one, where is the cheapest place to get them from please?

I was in my local Boots toady and they had them in the clearance section - reduced from £19 something to £9something ( can't recall exact prices ) - don't know if this will be in all branches though

Edited to add - didn't see Zippy's post above - so might well be nationwide -worth a check in your local Boots maybe
  • I was a bit silly and bought 3 when they were on 3 for 2, when I only need one! Was gonna stick the others on ebay, if they were £40 for 3 then that's about £13.50 each one. Only got size A though... not sure why I got 3, haha
  • wow, bargain!

i will try to check out the Crewe branch at the weekend - unless someone else already has?
