The mooncup is the best! It was kinda awkward at first, getting it in is ok but pulling it out is fiddly! I found making a pushing motion downward helps to dislodge it. (Sorry, that was kinda gross!
)
I brought from the mooncup.co.uk site, didn't occur to me to shop around! (I'm new to MSE!) Still, £20 is 10 boxes of tampons. I'd maybe use 2 or more on really heavy periods. So it'll pay for itself soon.0 -
Wish I'd discovered the mooncup years ago. Just finished frst time using last week, was away from the first day, and second day went for a 17 mile bike ride and completely forgot it was there! Am off back packing in Asia later in the year, so am looking forward to no menstrual hassles or disposing of sanitary stuff off the beaten track.0

Its my first month with mine and I dont know if mine monthlies are heavier than most but I am finding that I'm having to empty it more often than recommended. I've had one awful time this morning when it had been only 2 hours since emptying and it was full and leaking out the tiny pin holes at the top. Has anyone else found this or am I a heavy bleeder?? Despite this "hiccup" I really do love my mooncup and will never go back to tampons. Its so comfy you dont know its there!WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
Hi kiwichick
For the first day I find I have to empty it every 2-4 hours in the day but after that it is fine and drops down to far less than that.
This week i even braved it at work after it caught me unaware 4 days early!!!
Good luck

I was seriously considering this, but having had the mirena IUD fitted a few weeks ago, I can get away with only using liners. So my next question is.......... is there a green alternative to using liners apart frrom possibly bulky re-usable pads?????0
-
I use reusable liners and they are not bulky. The sanitary towels are bulkier but the liners are only slightly thicker than a normal liner. I find them to be very comfortable.

'natracare' do unbleached, biodegradeable liners, pads etc.0

'Nature' (the people who do the biodegradeable nappies) also do biodegradeable sanitary-wear - only found them on Ocado so far though - if anyone knows of any other stockists that would be great.
I find they perform more like conventional ones than Natracare do, although Natracare is the better product in eco-terms, and is fine for lighter flows.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
