Have just started using mine (one full day and night) and already really appreciate it. Wore it around the house for a little bit to keep an eye on it but it seemed so good that i was ready for an excursion almost immediately.

The key seems to be to relax when inserting and use your muscles to help seal it and then again later to take it out. Wore a pad with it for safety but didn't need it (even overnight).

I'm sure my oh must be getting bored (not to mentioned grossed out :D) with reports on progress everytime i go to the bathroom :o
  • I have been using the Mooncup for about 3 months now. I love it and rave about it to everyone trying to persuade them to buy one.

This month I have ended up with a Bartholin abscess http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001489.htm between my periods.

I have never had one before. It has been caused by bacteria. It is not a sti . I always boil my mooncup when my period starts and then again at the end when I put it away. I do not boil the 3 or 4 days that I use it. I just give it a really good wash.

I am just curious if others have got a Bartholin abscess or cyst and using a mooncup is related or perhaps it is just a coincidence.

I love the mooncup and want to use it again. But the abscess was so painful!

If you'd like to and are able to why not breastfeed and then you can get even longer without periods! I was free for almost 2 years and its great - a real pain when they resume though.

    Good luck with your pregnancy!

I am breastfeeding but got my periods back after 6 darn weeks! But still loving the breastfeeding so don't let that put you off.

I want to try a mooncup, still unsure as they are quite expensive and my periods have days when they are heavy and don't want to waste £18 for it not to work so still weighing up the pros and cons at the moment.

Do use natracare pads and tampons in the meantime so halfway there...

Ouch! Sounds awful, hope you are feeling better? Not something I have suffered from - have you tried contacting the manufacturer for advice?

Feel a lot better now thanks. A strong dose of antibiotics helped.

I just got mine (thanks to my mooncup friend who let me get in on the 3 for 2 - you know who you are!)

No probs putting it in but I am paranoid it will manage to ride up to where I cannot reach it if I leave it for any amount of time (I know it can't go anywhere but my fingers aren't that long if it does manage to get higher up!).

Has anyone else had problems with this - don't want to have to make an awful trip to A&E one day!!

Also - exactly how far inside is it supposed to go? A couple of cms? More? I have already shortened the stem as that wasn't agreeing with me...

    thanks :)

Haven't been using mine long but i agree it tends to 'slip' up further than i think it ought. But that's where yer handy muscles come in (to help encourage it out) i find.

I too worry that's it gunna go a little too far though! Maybe it's worth contacting the mooncup people and asking about it - they have lots of faqs on their website too http://www.mooncup.co.uk which may help if you don't want to contact them direct!

Thanks also to my mooncup firend too for my one!!!

I used it last week for my period and it worked, great. iwas very nervous to start with up got the hang quite quickly. I found to help it out I can kind of push down and it moves within finger reach!!!
Hopefully I won't need to again as we are trying for number 2 but atleast in the meantime I can save some money!!

I've got one now too. It took a bit of getting used to (just one cycle) but now its fine. I don't know if it is just me, but I feel very uncomfortable about telling people about it though. No, I don't have in-depth conversations about sanitary protection with total strangers, but it would be weird recommending it, even to a friend. I think I'd be worried about them being grossed-out by it, then thinking me a total crank. Still, I bought one after reading about it here and on the mooncup website and there are loads of happy users here! I'm glad to be a member of the club.

    Hi girls

Just wanted to say that if you look on the referrals board I have a link to the Mooncup website. I was hoping to be able to give some money to an MSE charity if anything was forthcoming via this link but so far have had 115 clicks and 4 purchases....so not yet up to the payment threshold.

Glad that there are so many "converts"....I think it's fantastic! :D
