I had a bargain! A few months ago I read that someone on another mooncup thread had got theirs in Boots half price in the reduction section. I tried a couple of Boots with no luck, so asked the pharmacy, they took a while to find one, but when they eventually did it scanned at full price, I said I was only getting it because I thought it was half price so she reduced it to £9.99 for me. :D

Have to admit I haven't been brave enough to try it yet. I bought washable sanitary towels a few months ago from cloth mad mummy and have found them great.

    Mooncup is fantastic.

I read about this over at Ciao, and when I first read what it was I thought it must be some wierd hippy invention, and probably very disgusting.

But then I started to read the reviews. And there were so many positive reviews that I decided to give it a go.

I was a little nervous as I am allergic to rubber. I had a practice run, and that was fine. I snipped a bit off the sticky out bit. Then a bit more.

When it came to the real thing, I had no problems putting it in, but I did find it a bit difficult to extract the first time. The tiny bit of nobble that I had left jut wasn't enough, and it was very slippery. However, I adjusted my technique, and now I have no problems at all.

Absolutely marvellous. Why aren't they more widely available and better advertised?
  • I think I have the hang of it more now. Getting it out isn't quite as bad as it was...definitely worth persevering girls, as I wasn't too impressed the first month I used it so I put it away to give it a rest and tried the next month instead.

I have a strenuous exercise class today which I suspect will involve lots of kicks and jumps etc. I trust it will stay in place, what say you more experienced users eh?!!

It's much more discreet for the communal changing rooms in the gym, wouldn't be happy using them otherwise if you see what I mean. Esp not with my reusable pads!! I'm prudish enough as it is.
  • hi all,

i really want to go for it and start using one - but i have that ick factor!

also, i can see how it'd be great for days when i'm at home, but what about when i'm at work or on a days-long walk - how do i deal with it?

    thanks for any help given.
Boyfriend & I have saved £12K in two years, thanks to careful budgeting and keeping a record of what we spend. I've never paid myself this amount of money before - it feels great!

  • I just went order one off Boots.com and the price went down to £17.99 if that helps anyone, I am going to get one (maybe) and check it out.
Proud to be me, proud to be who I am!!
  • If anyone wants, I can get one for £13.02......and then I can send it to you, how much would it cost to send? No more than a pound??? So about £14 in total. Let me know xx Best thing I bought! :D

Where can you get them from?

Not so sure about day-long walks... what do you usually do for bathroom breaks?

As for work it's no problem. just empty it in the loo + wipe it out with toilet paper (washing it before and after work is fine for me). I find it no more hassle than tampons, and i only started using mine a month ago!
  • thanks so much for your reply

thanks for the work-day tip, that sounds practicable.

day-long walks might involve telling everyone else to go ahead for a bit!

does one need one, or more than one, mooncups?
