I used to boil mine until I forgot about it (I leave baths to overflow as well!) now I use a sterilising tablet and just shuv it in my knicker drawer, I'm not worried about the chemicals but I do think it might need replacing sooner rather than later, I'm already on my second one! I love it and would never go back."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

" er... what do you mean?"
"that one that was in your bedroom"
"Where is it now?"
"Barbies got it"
"why?"

hhahahaha! thats fantastic!
Last year, I lived in a flat with 3 guys...and on the rare occasion when they saw me sterilising it in the microwave, with the inevitable 'what is that?'...a few tiems I said things like, 'barbies rain hat' and 'alien accessory', which got a few odd looks, but when I told them what it really was, you've never seen a room of guys fo absolutely white so quicklyOne thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.

Got mine from snazzypants this week, using it for the first time today. I can't feel it's there, it's great (I took the whole stem off after checking I can remove it without). It went in really easily, removing not quite as easy but no more difficult than removing a tampon and I don't have that silly string hanging down. I've yet to see how reliable it is but as it fits so well I'm very optimistic. Thank you all for this thread.:j :T0

I've finished using the mooncup for my first time now and it was great.
It fitted in perfectly for the whole week. You don't need to change it as often as tampons so your less likely to have to change it at a public loo, but if you do it's not a problem you just wipe it, and then rinse it when you get home, and you don't need to worry that you've forgotten to pack enough tampons for the day. You could easily go a working day without changing it (unless you're really heavy, even then you wouldn't have to empty as many times as with tampons). I emptied it more than I needed to just in case.
I felt more hygenic and felt less like I was on my period. You don't get that dry feeling you get near the end of your period that you can get with tampons.
I also went to a circuits class and aerobics and felt more secure than I do with tampons. :j
At the beginning of my period I usually have a super plus tampon and a sanitary towel at night as one without the other means that I leak (very annoying and potentially embarrasing) but this time I just used the cup and I was fine all night.
Even my boyfriend thought it was a good idea.
I hope this encourages someone to buy one as they are great.:T0 -
Hi
I've been trying out my mooncup for the first time, but I'm finding it difficult to get hold of the cup to remove it - I just don't seem to be able to reach it. Sorry to be so detailed but could do with some advice. I have a IUD and I'm scared that not breaking the seal properly will move that. I did remove it by pulling the stem but its not exactly comfortable (not really painful either)
ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0 -
ok, read the isntructions properly...I took a few goes of reading them to really know what I was doing.
On a more practical level...and please bear with me whilst I try and explain this!
You have to use your muscles (poss pelvic floor...but the muscles round it) to push it down a bit, then get your fingers up ruond it..hopefully it will be within reach then. It does require getting fingers a little messy (sorry if TMI!), but you shouldn't be using the stem to pull it out really.
stick with it though, as I said before, it did take a few months to get properly used to it, the first time each month was a case of 'hmm, I had this sussed last time, how did I do it agian??', but you get used to it.
hope that helps, if it no,try asking on the mooncup website, im sure there's a contact address on there you can use for more help. One thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.

Decided to buy one today, just inserted mine I am worried about getting it out though! My main concern is that the stem bit cant turn around if you know what I mean?? The whole thing wont like go on its side whereby the stem isnt facing down, (hope that makes sense)
Also, I dont recall reading anything about suction?? before pullling it out.NEVER REGRET ANYTHING THAT MAKES YOU SMILE:D
