I'd just like to add my support for the mooncup, and to suggest that for anyone thinking of going travelling, or backpacking, or camping, it cannot be beaten!0

I agree. I posted some time ago about the mooncup's virtues, but wanted to add here that I've been travelling for about 6 weeks with it, and have had two cycles, which would have meant a lot of tampons and towels!
Also I find it's great when you're on the road between periods and finding it troublesome to keep washing your underthings - I just use the mooncup and lo, no need for liners or disposable underwear. Great invention this, still wish I'd discovered it when I was younger! But better late than never. :T0 -
After two months of having mine I`m still having problems putting it in,just dont seem to get it in far enough and it doesn`t seem to pop open properly.
On the odd occasion when it goes in fine it`s great and so clean, but I`ve been using a panty liner just incase.I will persist with it until I get it right.
These are marvelous things when inserted correctly but my friends attitdue towards them isn`t a great one.Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0 -
Has anyone had any great, non-yucky, ideas on how to promote this to the 'unconverted'? Hazzie123 is right - so many friends turn their noses up at the concept, and yet, if they tried it so many of them would be converted. I once saw a sticker for the mooncup when I was at university, but are there other ways to spread the message?0

I think being open about using them is good, as so many people haven't even heard of them. Emphasis on the hygiene aspect I find helps, after all finding cotton fluff drying out intimate places isn't good - hence the reduced risk of toxic shock. I think the idea of washing it puts people off the most, especially in public toilets. Most people are surprised when you explain how simple that is. I think it is a question of myth busting! As an organic living, vegan, breastfeeding mum, I often find it is ignorance that makes people question/frown upon what you do. Once you take the time to explain, well researched facts, more often than not they join you! I would like to think the money saving aspect of th mooncup would help, but in todays shortsighted society many people are more concerned about initially shelling out £20 than what they will save over time!0

I have less cramps too, maybe this would have happened regardless, as part of my cycle changes over the years, maybe it is the mooncup. I guess it is hard to know for definite.
I don't how true it is but, I was told, the cramps reduce because the mooncup allows the flow to drip naturally whereas tampons 'suck' it out because they are absorbant. If this is the case, pads should also help reduce cramps?!?
It is an interesting theory though.0 -
as a bloke and after 14 pages is there really anything else we need to know about mooncups?
just asking you understand0 -
as a bloke, you have read 14 pages about mooncups? Why?!!When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

as a woman i've flicked onto this thread but i'm off yuk!:eek:0

There is nothing quite like the wonderful feeling of breezing past the feminine hygiene section of the supermarket thinking "I don't need to buy ANYTHING AT ALL". That is my favorite thing about the mooncup.
Just finished my first month with my mooncup and had a few tricky moments, but I think it just needs practice. It's a bit like being 13 all over again, relearning about your body and getting the knack of something unfamiliar and a little scary. In a few months I'm sure I won't think twice about it.
Thank you to all the positive posts on this thread that finally convinced me to buy a mooncup."Then, when every last cent
Of their money was spent,
The Fix-it-Up Chappie packed up
And he went."
