  • Thanks for the reminder, but just wanted to add a warning...
I noticed that the Scottish Widows webpage does not appear to be secured, ie. http rather than https. The page however makes several references to the fact that your data will be transmitted securely - data which includes requests for your date of birth and national insurance number, both key bits of information used in identity theft.
  • Just had a quick look at an old company pension of DH's - it looks like it may qualify, so we've filled in the form - thanks Martin :D

  • Hi there

Hubby pays into some sort of life insurance policy by DD the payments are made to a company called PHoenix but he insists the policy is with scotish widows anyone know if this is correct ............. he is rubbish at this kind of stuff its from before we met and i can't find any paperwork relating to it.

I have filled out the online form and used the ref no for the DD as a policy number .......wait and see i guess

Hi. Phoenix is not as far as I know connected to Scottish Widows. Royal Life joined Sun Alliance and became Royal and Sun and then a couple of years ago changed their name to Phoenix (rising from the ashes of the previous firms?!)

Sorry if I am the bearer of bad news but forewarned is forearmed.:)

  • Does anyone know the cut off date for when you had to have a policy in force? I have a pension with them that started in late July 1999.

Martins e-mail mentions having a policy in 2000 but I have seen a post here saying something about June 1999?

I have filled the form in, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

  • I worked for a charity for a short time in the 90's who had a Pension plan with Scottish Widows and then switched to Standard Life. Can't find the Scottish Widows details but phoned Standard Life who dealt with me by phone immediately and will ring me back to let me know if I am eligible for free shares from 2007. Sounds like my dealings with Scottish Widows won't be so straightforward. Great news though as potentially both windfalls are worth more than my actual plans which are worth peanuts. Going to fill in Scottish Widows online claim form now...

i have a pension with scottish widows, i have had it since mid 90's if not earlier.
it is 50% unitised with profit & 50% mixed. Does anyone know if i am entitled to anything? i have submitted my claim form just in case.
  • I was part of a 'with profits' company pension scheme at this time with Scottish Widows. Would I qualify even though it was a company pension scheme?

    Many thanks......x
  • Is it just savings/pensions? My husband and i have had a life insurance policy with them for many years and wondered if this was covered, im sure it wouldnt be but its worth asking. Thanks in advance xx
  • I have had my policy since 1997, did not know I could do a claim for compensation.

    Thanks Martin -
