Same letter for me today saying I received cheque for £500 on 21/08/2000. I don't remember this...but i may be wrong...but all these other posts are convincing me that i never did .

I have now received a Post Settlement letter saying the cheque for £500 was issued to my (previous) address on 21/08/2000 and cashed on 01/09/2000. However, I moved from this address to my current one in June 2000...I actually have a newspaper cutting showing me receiving the keys on my new build house dated 17/08/2000. That's good evidence i would say ;). I've also got an ongoing enquiry with my bank to see if they still hold records for back then. The Halifax say they do but it will just have the 'numbers' and not the 'names' of ins and outs of the account. That will do for me though so hopefully they can come back with something conclusive.
So either the cheque was redirected to me at my new address, or the cheque was cashed by 'someone' at the old address or ....I'm going stir crazy.

I went to my local branch of Lloyds TSB today to see if they could shed any light on whether or not I paid my SW £500 cheque into my bank account on 7/9/00 (as SW claim happened). They said they could only check back to 2002 but the very helpful lady (Sue) discovered a microfiche department address for Lloyds TSB and has contacted them to order a Sept 2000 statement for me (at no apparent cost-we'll see) so maybe, just maybe I'll get closer to unravelling the mystery that is the SW payment.... Next stop Halifax where I hold an Easycash account.....
  • Hi all just to say i've made endless attempt's to solve this sw cheque business to no avail i have e-mailed moneysavingexpert.com (as recommended by Di ) for any help or advice today explained as much as poss so don't know if i've done right (SORRY if WRONG) just trying to help solve this mystery i'm still waiting for reply off SW regarding payment confirmation/ complaint so thought any help/advice in meantime might help :confused::confused: sorry this all sounds mumbo jumbo so just have to sit tight and wait

Sent my completed online form the same time as my hubbys, in November 2009, I received my letter early in December from what I can recall to tell me I was not eligible, and my hubby have not heard anything about his own yet. They were sent off exactly the same time.

Not heard anything about another policy I had with them either but maybe a little early to receive a response about this one.

Have anyone had any email responses from them?

    Thanks.

I think all your eligible policies would have been grouped together. If you've been told you weren't elligible chances are it applies to all your policies

    Thanks for this.
Even if they were separate policies?

Hubby taken the one out a few years before me as well, cheers.;)

I am in exactly the same situation - however I know my ex Husband still lives at the address where Scottish Widows say the cheque was posted he is adament that he never cashed such a cheque. Any correspondence addressed to me would have been shreded. I am also awaiting further comment and proof from Scottish Widows. I have every intention of fighting this all the way.
  • I saw an article in the "Daily Mail" today about this and dug out my Scottish Widows pension docs which go back to the early 90s. I can't ever remember receiving anything about demutualisation but I was in the middle of getting divorced & moving house at the time with not all my post being forwarded so have filled in the online form. If anyone with a with profits pension has successfully claimed can they let me know how the variable compensation is worked out??
