Please if you read this thread, any ideas where we can go with this one?

As you will see many have been told they already received payouts in earlier years, but there is no proof of this.

SW should have some proof if they are stating the payments have already been made.
But this have not been the case, no-one can recall on receiving their payouts here, so any suggestions please would be most helpful, thank you.

• Hi,

Has anyone tried speaking to their bank and asking them to look and see if a cheque was cashed at that time. I realise it was over 6 years ago, but perhaps because you know the approximate dates it might help?

• MSE Alana my mother in law spoke to her bank and no cheque was placed in her account.

I've now had one letter saying I was paid, and another saying I don;t qualify. I get the feeling they don't know what they are on about...

• My letter states a value of £5673.35 so i am furiously emailing and writing letters. Thanks for tip of COMPLAINT in subject.

Will let all know any response i get.

This morning at 10:34 i sent an email to SW with COMPLAINT in the subject, they phoned me back at 13:36 saying they were investigating and needed my DOB for security info.

They then said they would phone back asap

Not heard anything since but this may be a step forward - we shall see.

Hi,

I have been in contact with Scottish Widows, it says it should be able to provide policyholders with the date the demutualisation cheque was cashed; this will enable you to go to your bank and ask them for confirmation/statements.

Update 15 dec: Scottish Widows should also be able to provide the address the demutualisation cheque was sent to, the amount the cheque was for, the date it was sent and whether you took out a VIP account to have the money paid into.

It's going to get back to me next week on whether it's able to provide further details such as the address the cheque was sent to, amount, date sent to policyholder and if it can tell which bank it was paid in to.

They have asked that you contact them at SW_Demutualisation@scottishwidows.co.uk, putting “Payment Confirmation” in the subject line. They aim to get back to you within 3 weeks (depending on volume of enquiries).

To ensure that your enquiry is dealt with quickly, please include the below info in your email:
• The date of the letter advising payment has already been made
• Full name (and maiden name if applicable)
• Date of birth
• National Insurance No
• Current address
• Address in June 1999
• Policy number
• Reference number on trace form
• Phone number
I hope that helps,
Alana

I have just been informed that SW have called my mother in law back today and they have said they may not have sent the cheque to her afterall. They are looking into it and are going to get back to her when they have further information. This information has come to me second hand and I am unable to speak to her myself at the moment so I dont know what they have said in great detail with regards to the letter they already sent stating they have paid her.

Received a letter this morning, to confirm that they have compared our details with their records, and found that I did not qualify, as the policy was not in force at the time of demutualisation, so not eligible for compensation.
............................................................................................

I have since found another policy number and emailed with that one the other day, so will see what they come back with, the one I emailed them with I know is an older policy.
