Was meant to ask on my above post.....

Both myself and hubby completed the online form about a month or so ago, just for curiosity, how long was it you all heard after sending off the form?

    Cheers.;)

I was not sent a trace form but moved at this address in 2001, so completed the information form online on the 4 November, where is states complete this and they will then send the trace form for completion.

If this is case should we have received the proper form by now?

Copied and pasted this from Scottish Widows website -

    2. How do I know if I am eligible for a claim? (hide)

If you have received a trace form from us, we would ask you to complete all details and return it in the pre-paid envelope to Scottish Widows Bank (FAO – Gordon Kruszewski). We will assess the claim and within 12 weeks you will either receive a cheque in the post, or a letter confirming you are not eligible for a payment.
If you do not have a trace form, contact us by using the information form provided. We will forward a trace form to you for completion. Upon return of the form, we will assess your claim and advise you within 12 weeks if you are eligible.

Hi just to say i filled on-line form in on 23/09/09 phoned S/W on 25/11/09 (9wks) Then got letter 04/12/09 saying they'd paid me 21/08/09 seems to me they're both standard letter's Maybe there is someone out there who will kindly guide us through this or advise us what steps to take
  • Same as everyone else, go the standard letter with no ref on same day stating had the £500 in Aug 2000...do they think we are stupid? I have replied as directed by some irate scottish widow employee who also said she hadn't had anyone else ring about the letter...err yer right !

Have rang again today as still no respinse onyl to be told cannot get to speak to anyone in the demutualisation dept (convienient) and that have to wait another 12 weeks to get an answer as to who this cheque was written to and what cheque number was etc etc. They have all of the information showing that these cheques weren't cashed they are just stalling for time as after March next year that's it....they don't have to pay. I was told 10 mins ago that they have a deadline to clear all claims by March and after that it's over. So by sending us all this generic letter then we have to try and get back to them with a complaint which gets added to their already huge pile ( at the bottom) and so we wait another 12 weeks.

Surely someone somewhere should be dealing with this and scottish widows. The FSA should now get involved as this is some sort of fraud on a grand scale.

I never had a cheque , I never cashed a cheque so they seem to be trying to keep our money in these times of recession for as long as they can....and they are getting away with it....comeon Martin, can't you get them on telly to answer this shocking behaviour and explain themselves?

I filled in the form for my mil ages ago and she received the same standard letter. It said she had already received a payout in 2000. She hadnt so she called them and they said they would look into it and get back to her. She has been in touch with her bank and she definitely hasnt cashed a cheque for that amount into her account and she has also checked her building society books and nothing ties up with the amount they say they sent her.

Having just read this I have urged her to ring SW back as they said it would take about an hour to check and they would call her back. This was morning and they havnt so she is going to call them again to see what they have found out.

  • I can't believe there are so many people in this situation! I have 2 Scottish Widows with profits policies in my name - and still in my possession. In September 2000, I phoned their help line and was told I had no entitlement to a share of the money - no explanation given! I then faxed them copies of the policies and the proof that I was the beneficiary. I heard nothing more from SW!

Nine years on, your thread jolted me. So I wrote to them again just over a week ago. This time they have replied saying they had issued me with a cheque on 15 September 2000 "and no further compensation" was due to me! Needless to say, I have not seen this cheque: it did not reach me nor my bank account.

As I am owed several hundred pounds, I will now have to write to them again, forcefully stating my claim. Surely maladministration on this scale is a matter for the Financial Services Authority (or else the Fraud Squad)??

    Hi there

Something not quite right about this I don't think. So I don't blame you or anyone else going further on this one.

If they have this info in front of them they should be able to prove they had sent the cheque somehow.

I had completed the online form 4 November, and have since come across another old policy, may try for that one as well, and see what happens.

I do actually have my statements as from 1999, by hoarding them......:o, and not so far seen any cheque payments made into the account made out by SW, so am waiting now to see what they come back with.

Did you actually complete the online form or write a letter to them?

I know its not the news you were waiting for, but they did not take long to come back to you on this did they?

Hope this gets sorted out soon for you and everyone else.;)
