After phoning,we were told it was too long ago for them to check it out completely....We only knew about the demutualisation thanks to this site.
Is there anything we can do ? We would have known if we had had a cheque for £500.
Am waiting for our complaint to be answered from them.0 -

Go to your bank and ask them. I can go as far back to June 2002 on internet banking so they must be able to go further back.If you don’t speculate, you can’t accumulate. :beer:0 -

Andy has it right you need to check your bank account, however if Wids are saying its been cashed you might need to go to the police0 -
After numerous phone calls and receiving 2 letters in other people's names, I got a phone call from a team manager saying that I dont qualify for a payout and they will send me a letter stating that. The policy I had was an endowment. If you don’t speculate, you can’t accumulate. :beer:0

Just had another call from a different person at Scottish Widows asking me for more info and saying that endowment policies do qualify for compensation , and that she will look into it and get back to me.If you don’t speculate, you can’t accumulate. :beer:0

After speaking to someone else at scot wids we were told the cheque was paid into our account on 6th Sept.2000!!! That is my birthday and I would have remembered, plus I wouldn't have waited nearly 3 weeks before paying it in.
Handed from one department to another today but still no joy.If records only go back 6 years how can they be sure about this info?No record of any such payment at our bank.0 -

It may be one of the other reasons don't qualify depend when you plan was in force from/to. An endowment would qualify if it fits the criteria0 -
Hi,We too were told that we were sent a cheque in 2000 and it had been paid into an account. We have not received anything and we have lived here for 19 years and been a scot wid member for 21 years.Have asked for info but passed
from department to department and no help.0 -
here's hoping. just sent mine off via the web page.0

Today I also received the letter stating they paid me on 21/08/2000. I know I would have remembered if I had got a cheque for over £560. Surely there is something that can be done about this. I feel that it is just a standard letter they are sending out to everyone. Doesn't even have a reference number on it.0
