Does anyone know if it interferes with the grant pensioners get for the winter months?

Does anyone know if students qualify that own their own house and are exempt from paying council tax? Would this be classed as council tax benefit?

    Thanks
    Helen

I doubt this counts as students get exemption coded, even if they would otherwise have qualified for Council Tax Benefit, the benefit award shows as £0 due to the exemption. Also, CTB doesn't get awarded without you applying for it...

You could phone 'em and ask though...

Only british gas. Would be worth getting out a calculator to see if this money off would make it worthwhile switching. Bear in mind apparently the numbers who can get a rebate are limited and may not get the full rebate amount.

    Thanks OP

I applied for myself and then rang for my mum and we are both eligible for £60 each.

My mum gets Pension Credit if thats any help to anyone, and as far as I know, it doesn't interfere with the cold weather payment.

I also voted OP Post of the Month last week. Good Luck :D
  • My lovely British Gas winter bill has dropped through the letter box today and i have NO rebate!!. I applied last year and was told i would get it on my winter bill.

Did anyone have a rebate on their bill?

Hi, my dad applied for this and he had to phone them several times before they finally credited his account for the rebate(sorry i cant remember how much!)
I think BG try to get out of paying you this unless you bug them:eek:
I think you should give them a call and remind them
    Good luck!
  • I phoned them and was told that they have experienced delays with getting the rebates on the bills in time and it will be on my next bill. hmmm after reading your post not sure i believe her now!!
