My list of given would be too long to list here, my list of received very little.

There was far more to the change from Freecycle to Freegle than one of the previous posters commented on.

We kitted out Babies Nursery with a jungle theme from Freecycle, Matching Cot Bumper, curtains, clock, cot mobile, washable playmat, animal soft toys, toy boxes, moose Rug, 2 Bouncy chairs (which went back on Freecycle when he outgrew them), Baby Monitors, a breast pump, moses basket\stand.

Also we have had a remote control 8 way extension lead, a pair of Jamo Speakers and a breadmaker. The best thing we got was an 8 Man (top of the range) tent that still retails at over £100.

  • We were gifted a big chest freezer 5 years ago. This is still in the garage and working brilliantly

Also, a tumble dryer which worked perfectly for 4 years until it stopped heating, we offered it on freecycle and it went to a chappie who teaches electricals at a local college and wanted broken white goods for students to practice on, they then re-gift on freecycle once fixed.

The day the tumble dryer broke down another freecycler had one to offer and we were lucky enough enough to be offered it. A year on and it's still going strong

Last week we gave away 2 two seater leather sofas that were really too big for this room since we moved. They weren't that old, but DD was getting new ones and her's were a better size for us.
I've also gave a 1950's ladies bike away on freecycle last year.

    We've received some demi johns.

I love freecycle and pop on once a week to see whats on. Youngest DD says she's going to do her flat out using it when she goes to uni later this year. Gotta teach them young. :D

    Best freecycle find!

About 3 years ago I decided on a whim I'd like a TV in my bedroom as well as in my livingroom. (greedy I know but it helps me sleep and is a better solution then long terms sleeping pills).

The women offering the Daewood TV was just down the end of my road, it was a 26" CRT and massivly heavy- I was used to a much smaller screen so was taken a back at how heavy it was! She even drove it to my flat and carried it to my door with me! Amazingly helpful and I was so grateful! I only have one freeview box though so this stayed with my main smaller TV as otherwise it cannot recieve any channels at all. The Daewoo had an areal and was able to pick up the 4 main channels.

Fast forward to last week, my other TV breaks down. Nothing on the screen. I had only ever been able to get Dave at home as the reception is non existant and I can't afford an outside areal so I was not so fussed about getting a new one, didn't look for a new one and didn't have the money either, paying upwards of £100 plus delivery (don't want to get mugged on the bus!) was not an option when all I ever get is 1 channel.

So I moved the Daewoo TV to fit (tiny flat, previous TV had been a tiny one) which meant moving it to a different position in the flat and rearranging all my furniture.

All of a sudden....every channel! I didn't even recognise most of them its amazing! :D All 32 odd channels! I get E4, BBC 4, Sky 3 even and even a random music channel!!

Had I not had this substitue TV I would have never known this, I'd have gone without a TV forever and I'd still be paying a TV licence for one channel!

Kind of a long one but for me it really made my day big time!
  • I haven't had anything from freecycle yet, which is a shame as myself and partner have just got a house together and have very little in it. Our main problem is that we don't have a car, so see lots of awesome things, but as we can't drive, other people are getting picked over us, which is understandable.

Will be offering a computer tower next week now, we're buying a new one for my boyfriend and the old one will suit a student or someone I'm sure

Best thing I ever got was a toddler bed with mattress and bedding, just at the right time when dd started climbing out of her cot. It was boys bedding but she didn't care the slightest and is still sleeping in it happily.
Given away a bbq, toys, baby bits and a shed.

  • I do love Freecycle and tend to be more of a giver in the main
but i was given a beautiful violin a while ago and a lovely unsusual
mini fridge in the shape of a silver egg, on each side there are blue LED lights which you can switch off and on.It looks fantastic. With both items the giver said that they were rather overwhelmed with the requests they received so i felt really fortunate to be offered both items.
