Does anyone know if it's OK to offer foodstuffs on Freegle? I always have loads and loads of surplus fruit/veggies from the garden and would much prefer it to be used rather than end up on the compost heap. Can't remember ever seeing anything similar posted in my area.

    Sorry if OT :o

on my local Freegle people often offer things like windfall apples and protein shakes they have tried and didnt or cat food the cat hates ect. I presume its up to your local moderators discretion . But its fine where I am ! Regards Amanda

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
When my dad was out of work I went for a long shot to see if anyone had a computer they no longer used, someone kindly gave him an old PC which enabled him to search and find a job, when he got a job he brought himself a laptop and passed the pc onto some relatives who couldn't afford a computer and who still have it to this day :)
Mir- I would love it if i saw local fruit/veg that was going spare :)

We've just been given a GORGEOUS antique pine wardrobe after I responded to an 'offered' post. It's got deep shelves instead of a rail so we're going to have it in our lounge. We can't wait to pick it up tomorrow! We've given away LOADS of stuff, we never throw anything away.

    Yahoo slow?

Compared to my.freecycle Yahoo is super fast!

I have rarely been on a site that is as slow as MF, Freecycle was originally on Yahoo - using Yahoo groups and you do not need to use the Yahoo email account - just watch what your agreeing to and setup your own account as the default.

Millions of people use Yahoo groups daily, they have a large team of support personnel who can respondto and repair thesite within a few hours if not minutes. Unlike MF that has only a small handful.

I love freecycle. I have given books, a treadmill, and a few other bits and pieces. I have only ever replied to one 'offered' post, as it was something I really did need and want for a long time, a lovely arm chair, and the woman who gave it to me was lovely, she even took the fabric cover off and washed it!

My cousin is a bit snobby about freecycle, charity shops in general, she won't even entertain the idea, no pleasing some people!

The only posts I ever do not like on there are the 'pet' ones. There are numerous ones on my local freecycle right now and it reads like they don't care where they go as long as they do. I just often wonder if these little pets ever end up in good homes, or just being past around when people get fed up of them.
  • New single metal filagree bed frame!! Yay!
Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!
    :hello:
  • :A Gave away a lovely double pine bed & mattress the other week to a couple who had just moved into a flat with their new baby & were sleeping on the floor. You just hope that people are genuine...:o

Not looked for anything tho yet.
