  • I've given away quite a bit, it's surprising what you manage to accumulate without realising it, cleaning out my shed and loft were shocking.

The best things I got from freecycle was a folding table, when I needed one and had zero money spare. I recently was given an ipod by a lovely lady for my son. He is so thrilled with it, some people's generosity never ceases to amaze me.

i've given away several things but just got a nasty email from someone who collected something I'd offered.I think my offering was basic and she wanted top of the range, her email was bordering on abusive and I may not continue on freecycle:(

I've not been able to give a lot yet because I'm a student. I received a printer, hoover (which went back on when we moved flats), a dress, broken jewellery (for my evening college class), and yesterday - wooden table for my new flat. Really happy.
  • Recently given away a load of kiddies clothes and the other day picked up an air conditioning unit!!! This is going to be ideal for the summer and when we checked online its still selling for £324 WOW

Don't let one rotten person spoil the greatness of Freecycle! Report her to the moderator, they will not be happy about such conduct spoiling things for others.

    I agree.
Needs to be reported as there may have been others complaining about the same person. If there are nuisance makers about, we don't want them, they spoil it for us all.

My daughter has outgrown her crib so put a request for a cotbed and mattress and picked it up today. Well chuffed cos this is the first thing I've requested. In the past have given away books and odds and ends

  • I love freecycle and the majority of it's users, although some of the people looking for items on there seem rather rude/mercenary.

    Given -
    Freeview box
    PC Monitor
    Microwave
Dumbbells + assorted spare exercise equipment

    Received -
Air compressor, sack trucks, assorted screws, nuts, bolts etc. (Massive thanks to Henry!)
Washable nappies and wraps (Huge thanks to Anna!)
Metal lock-box, bedside lamp, standard lamp, blanket and mattress protector (Gigantic thanks to Renee!)

All the items I've received are put to good use - and when/if they're not needed they'll be re-listed.

Can I just ask people who are collecting big furniture like sofas and wardrobes etc, do you hire vans or what? I'd imagine that sorta stuff would be hard to get in a car ;)

My husband picked up the cot today, it was all dismantled and everything but he was still complaining like mad that it had ruined his car etc... But then again he is a bit of a crybaby lol.

Think freecycle, freegle, is a great thing, recycling reusing etc but only if you've got the resources to go get them. Some things require a car so if you don't drive that disqualifies you. And bigger items might need you to hire a van and is is really worth it for something unseen? Of course, you could ask for pictures but the giver might not want to go to all bother and would rather give it to someone else who isn't too fussed.

  • I answered an offer for a vucumn cleaner yesterday. And found out the lady offering it lives 2 mins away from me. Brilliant.
