  • I have given loads away mainly the kids stuff, a leapfrog activity centre (delievered that), Cabin bed with matteress and bags and bags of clothes. I'm just about to put the childrens toys on there.

I have been angry though while i have given things away, the emails i get in respond to the adverts always make me want to give them everyone and on a few occasions i have given things to people who didn't really need the items they just lied to me. Example, one lady claimed her daughter was having a baby in the next couple of weeks and had nothing so needed the baby clothes, bouncer, steriliser etc etc i was only to happy to help, she came and i overheard the little boy who she turned up with saying that they would go like "hotcakes" on the carboot next sunday........... I was sooooo angry!
You get people who abuse it, so now i like to think i can spot the ones with the far fetched story!

    Given away:

    Cabin Bed
    Standard Lamp
Paint - the lady collecting wanted it for a community project
Rat cages and accessories (a charity wanted some and posted a wanted and I kept their details and was able to give them some stuff about 6 months later!!)
    Decorative garden stones
    Garden Mulch
    Overmantel Mirror
    Spare chilli plants
    Spare strawberry plants
Broken PS2 - the guy fixed it in one evening!
Broken breadmaker - the guy had the same model but broken for a different reason.
Magnetic Words - a primary school teacher nabbed these
Slow cooker - just couldnt get on with it
    Two folding pink stools
    Leaking Tumble Dryer

and I'm sure lots of things I've forgotten :)

    Was the lucky recipient of:

Pine single bed (which matched our existing pine wardrobe)
A bunk bed (couldn't make one decent bed :( so passed the wood on to a friend for firewood)
A chat noir poster - always wanted one :D
A set of practically brand new left handed golf clubs (for father-in-law when he visits)
tomato plants - my daughter loves tomatoes and was gutted when all of our died :(
a bag of sand to fix a wobbly spot on our drive
An amazing amount of cross stitch material - patterns, threads, aida and even a teeny pair of embroidery scissors.
    Cross stitch and craft magazines
A yoghurt making machine although I might pass that forward as we don't make as much as I thought we would.
Bopit extreme - my daughter and husband had a running competition and when they cracked it we freecycled it for someone else.
Dog food for dogs with sensitive stomachs - didn't do much for our dog so freecycled that again.
Lots of duvets for said dog to rest his old bones.
    Various herbs

    I'm sure lots more I've forgotten :)

    Tenth Anniversary
I'm torn.... I think freecycle is great, and after reading through the posts on here I'm shocked at what people give away and get for free.. well done for the getters and respect for the givers

Help other people out, or sell on ebay and help myself out... it's two tough rocks to be stuck between!

Anyone know the site/link for Newcastle or the North East?

Not having a car freecycle/freegle is a godsend for getting rid of stuff. The only alternative is £20 for the council to get rid of 5 items, which we've used in the past but a) need 5 to make it worthwhile and sometimes it would be ages before we have enough and b) everything i've given away is in resuable condition.

Big items that we have got rid of include a broken fence panel (for firewood), a dismantled shed, paving slabs, a whole load of pebble gravel and got a wardrobe to reoffer due to a no-show.

I love Freegle too, when I moved house I put loads up, and then at xmas I Freegled all the bits and bobs that weren't useful to me. I've had great stuff from Freegle, Tailors dummy, the carcasses of kitchen cupboards and a brand new work top so we could build our own kitchen! i Freegle clothes. I've even had some lush bath stuff ! It's a great community, tho you do have to watch out for people you suspect are re-selling stuff, and folk who always reply no matter what it is, I try and give every one a fair go and make sure I spread stuff around. I also got introduced to 'Bookcrossing' through Freegle where you register and review a book then release it into the world and follow it on it's travels and try and catch a book you would like t read! ( you can google the link as I can't post it) I love Freegle, but we dont have a swap and borrow one here ( if anyone want's to send me info on that it would be interesting !) Regards Amanda
Thank you to all the money savers:beer: for all the wisdom, companionship, bargains, competitions and ideas:T you have made a transformation to our household, Thank you, it would have been so much harder without you and together we are amazing :A:smileyhea
