That does not prevent bonfires, as councils still incinerate and are required to incinerate section c can not be interpreted as excluding burning non-toxic materials.

If you are suggesting that our household "controlled waste" is subject to the regulations that require the producer to ensure correct disposal by the waste transfer contractor then the council would have to provide each and every household with a weekly waste transfer note.

Its only businesses that have to obtain and keep transfer notes. Domestic people just need to take steps to ensure they give their waste to a licensed waste carrier.

Me thinks you are over complicating the matter. Everyone can take their waste, inc some toxic wastes, to the local tip in their own car and as such there is no need to ensure the use of licenced waste carriers.

my friend is vegetarian and every time that we have nice weather, her neighbours light up their barbequeues and make the whole area STINK of burning meat. It's worse than have a burger van outside your door.....

for goodness sakes......outrageous behaviour......that your veggie friend should be subjected to the smell of a barbeque....you cannot honestly argue with that.

    what an utterly silly post.

Why light a bonfire during the day anyway, just throw stuff in the bin

Because most councils are fussy about what you put in the bin. You try cutting down a diseased tree and putting it in your wheelie bin, the council will go apeshit!

    mrcol1000 thinks the

"Environmental Protection Act 1990 makes it an offence to do anything with your waste other than give it to licensed waste carrier "

    Unfortunately he miss-read it.

That is what it does say. However as I previously said few councils enforce it to the letter because you would end up with everyone in court.

That's what it does say before the paragraph that excludes domestic waste from it. You have to read things through not just stop at the bit that supports your erroneous argument.

    (2) Subsection (1) above does not apply in relation to household waste from a domestic property which is treated, kept or disposed of within the curtilage of the dwelling by or with the permission of the occupier of the dwelling.

I regularly spark up the chimnea to get rid of papers and garden waste after 7pm, I would be polite and inform the neighbour, but seeing as they are bone idle and their washing can be on the line for up to 3 days, I don't bother.

Plus its difficult after the other week when I told the Neanderthal oik that I don't converse with wife beating scumbags.
