I'm guessing however you say it, 'wasnt asking your bloody permission' doesn't sound too polite :rotfl:My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

But he didn't say that. That is the way you interpreted it just from the written word, which gives no indication of the manner in which it was said. Sounds like you expect your neighbours to ask your permission before they have a BBQ.
He could have actually said it in away that could only be interpreted (when heard) as "I've spent all day organising a BBQ for my family/friends and they are all there expecting me to light it in ten minutes. But I can't light it while your washing is out as I am a good neighbour. Can you please help me out by taking your washing in."0 -
I have some stuff that needs burning including some documents with sensitive information that I would rather burn than shred... I have bought a burning bin or what ever it's called, what would be the best time to light it so I don't upset people? If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

I had a neighbour complain wehn I lit a fire late evening as her daughter sleeps with the window open and she was worried about her asthma.
It's hard to get it right sometimes even with good intentions. Thankfully I don't light many fires.0 -
At my previous house our weird next door neighbour used to light fires at all times of the day and night. Almost on a daily basis. I was forever returning home and having to rewash my laundry. Most annoyingly she always did it in her front garden which was right next to the main road. Several times motorists knocked at her door and complained they couldnt drive safely because they couldn't see because of the smoke. She just didn't care. she didnt stop until she set the other neighbours tree on fire and it burned all over their Audi TT!!!0

Maybe its best its only the bonfire that your neighbour lights when you see this......:rotfl:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1215108/Couple-phone-Lanzarote-telling-garden-moved--door.html0

Never, there's always someone who will be upset.
Just use some common sense, don't light it when your neighbours have their washing out etc. Don't burn anything you shouldn't either, stuff like plastic and rubber.0 -

oh - and dont call my OH a !!!!!! - he is lovely - but i bet a lot bigger than you and was known as local rugbys teams 'hard centre'.
that was uncalled for and if you want to take me on - better than you have tried - and failed!0 -
Up in this lovely caring part of the world, almost everyone has an open fire in their house so we always smell of smoke anyway! My brother and his mate were burning off the croft one day and the new neighbour down the road called the fire brigade and the cops on them. The firemen were expecting an out of control moor fire, not a couple of guys burning of an old patch of grass. All they said was "make sure the fence doesn't go up" and away they went again!
I personnally don't see much wrong with a bonfire, it saves space in landfill sites and where else are you meant to toast your marshmallows? I agree that you should wait until the wind is blowing away from your neighbours but if you ar ein the middle of a row of houses then maybe you just have to go for the lesser of two evils and light it when the wind is blowing all the smoke over the least amount of washing lines.0
