er - in my area there is actually a bye-law against lighting bonfires before 6pm. but you can always do what my mum did. she hung out a line of nappies in morning and neighbour lit a bonfire - so she put it out with garden hose!! neighbour was irate - but she faced him down, pointed out the byelaw and told him he was lucky he wasnt washing the nappies for her!!! get your neighbours together luv and gang up on him!!!

Sorry, I don't mean any offence to the OP, but every time I read this thread I get a vision of an old man writing this on another forum.

    "Stupid Women

I just spent half the morning building a bonfire, in full view of my neighbour. Then, just as I was about to light it she goes and hangs her washing out. Even idiots know that you don't hang your washing out when your neighbour is lighting a bonfire!"

I had this problem recently with the wicked old witch next door.

Over a number of nights she burnt "things" in one of those chimney thingies.

As it was summer and warm I had my windows open all night so the smoke came into my bedroom which pi55ed me off.

I emailed the Housing Office but they made out like the garden was tidy and all they have is a small chimney and they were only burning old bank statements.

I emailed the HO back to say that unless Mrs X's bank statements look like lumps of wood and conifer clippings then I don't think she was telling the truth, and that it doesn't matter how big or small a fire is, a nuisance is exactly that, a nuisance.

    What's wrong with these people?

Well I've got an old shed to dismantle and seeing as though it's rotten I think I shall have to knock it down and burn it.

Where's my hammer gone ( walks off humming to herself, ding dong the wicked witch is dead :rotfl:)

I had the same problem a few months ago, weather outside was dry, sunny and warm! i had to close all my windows because the smoke was really bad, i thought at first there was a house fire, it was blowing accross the road which was, in my opinion, a hazard to drivers, so I reported it to my local council who sent someone along and told them to put it out as it is against the law to burn rubbish during the day! it turns out they were burning trees that they had cut down...trees...i ask you, it's one thing a bit of rubbish, but trees is taking th pi55...

  • my friend is vegetarian and every time that we have nice weather, her neighbours light up their barbequeues and make the whole area STINK of burning meat. It's worse than have a burger van outside your door.....

So the neighbourhoud should kowtow to your mates eating habits ?

Stinks of burning meat. What else do you expect from a BBQ ?

    Nice weather = barbecues.
