I thought you could burn anything on your land and I was talking "tosh" when I said you couldn't?

Lets get something straight. You said you could not burn anything on your own land because it is an offence NOT to give it to a licensed waste carrier. You were wrong, but in order to save face you are now swinging it the other way.
  • I get that but burnt metal would not be worth much as it would be flaking and thin in places and would probably be rendered useless even by the dimmest of scrap merchants.

No, once melted down it will be fine.
  • does that aplly to cats and other small furry creatures?

Don't see why not, you can even bury people in your garden these days. I expect you would have to follow a procedure first, but it can be done.

I remember a story about a man, in Wales I think, bought a house and discovered the previous owner had buried a complete car in the garden. When dug up it still worked even though it had been buried for years.

It is an offence to give your waste to anyone other than a licensed waste carrier. It is also an offence to keep waste on your land that will attract pests or will be determential to the area. It also is an offence to burn any waste that will pollute the environment. It also is an offence to burn and cause a nusiance to people in the area. anything even if it does not pollute the area. There are many different regulations and laws that cover the above. The only mistake i made was quoting one of them rather than all of them.

  • Reading through this thread makes me laugh.

People cant win what ever they do.

A builder a few doors away angle grinded some bricks, due to the wind, the dust went all over my washing. Big deal, the wife had to shove it in the washing machine again. So what, stuff happens.

If say washing was limited to 2 or 3 days a week then people may have a point, but it isn't. Go out into any street (with a lot of houses in it for the sake of argument), any day of the week and you will be able to see washing hanging out, even in the evenings. Going by what some people suggest, you would never ever be able to light a bonfire or have a barbecue

That's without the fact that usually the type of person that complains about a bonfire ruining their washing, will usually be the type of person that a few weeks later has a huge bbq in their garden, going on into the late hours, loads of guests making a noise in the garden, zero consideration to the neighbours and didn't even bother to check if anyone had washing out before the bbq was lit ;)

Its not stupidity - its lack of manners and consideration ! window.

Yeas lack of consideration from people who hang out washing!! every day I have a different Neighbour put washing out, why should I have to collect garden waste just because someone wants washing dry:mad: I mean whats wrong with and indoor line?

I agree with that, if you actually give it to anyone.

However, that is not what you said, you said it is an offence do do anything other than give it to a licensed waste carrier. Which is a completely different thing all together.

But it is fine if it doesn't attract pests and is not detrimental to the area.

But it is fine if it is not classed as polluting the environment, as in the leaflet you posted a link to earlier. Post 84 .

According to your leaflet a one off, or irregular fire is not a nuisance.

    We know that.

No, the mistake you made was quoting one of them wrongly and digging your self into a hole instead of admitting you were wrong.

Please, stop digging and put your shovel away.
