Happy Due Date Squishy. Thanks for the good vibes everyone.

Kindof, hope I've not missed you but don't worry if you don't get to hear the heartbeat today. I think 16 weeks is the earliest it can be heard, and although I did hear it at my 16 wk appt the midwife did warn me beforehand not to worry if I couldn't. Hope all goes well though.

Muso, I've always been quite lucky with my skin but I've heard that sudocreme is quite good for drying them out. I think there is a small pot in one of the early bounty bags if you want to give it a try. Also agree with a padded bra for the nipples and don't worry, the soreness will wear off eventually.

Not sure if the consultant will offer a sweep today or if they will arrange for one next week like squishy. Would like to get rid of the cold first so hopefully I can put it off for a bit. Going to go to Asda first though just in case, would hate for them to do one then have to struggle round asda after.

I'll let you know what they say

  • Thanks guys!

Somebody on my local freecycle as advertised an as good as new in box avent breast pump. Is it ok to get this second hand? Do you think it's a bit early to start getting stuff? (7 weeks but really want to spread the cost!)

muso - should be fine. You sterilise it anyway before every use. A lot of ladies have mentioned getting theirs from eBay/boot sales.

Happy due date to harley & squishy! eeek! :D

kindaof - usually they will listen to the HB from 16 wks at your appointments just make sure things sound okay. If you're right on the edge of 16 weeks, they may or may not do it - just depends on the MW.

Labour vibes for everyone! csh, Nicky (well maybe not as having c/s), harley, Squishy...aren't there a few more due in the next few days? ;)

  • Morning all, Dday for harley & squishy bet you both get asked 100's of times if anything is happening everyday now :rotfl:

All this talk of midwifes has reminded me that i was meant to get a call from one yesterday. They have been relocating the CMW teams and when i called the number they gave me to make an appointment i was told they cant make appointments as the midwifes do that themselves, hmmm i've been here before lol. So one was meant to call me back to make an appointment. Will wait till the afternoon before i call again.

On the nipple front i find if the bra i am wearing is not a good fit(which seems to change daily up and down at the moment)When i take it off at night my chest and nipples are sore and because they are sensitive i cant wear tops that are lose or i feel like they are getting rubbed with sand paper all day lol

Hope everyone is well and has a good day.

  • 32B- the bra fit probably isn't helping me on the nipple front. I think in the past few weeks i've gone up at least half a cup and all my bras are pinching a little. Going to have to start on the maternity bras soon, although I was hoping to hold off a while!

muso i def would ask for it. They're fully washable so there's nothing ming about it IMO.
  • Muso do you have a sports bra you could wear i have one that is crop top styled and it is great for those days when none of my bras feel right. Provided it is not to tight that is. and if the nipples are irritated rather than just sore you can start using nipple cream, if you plan on BF it will not do to have sore nipples before you start.HTH

  • Thanks 32b - I do have acropped style one that would be fine to wear around the house. Don't think I could wear it out though cos it makes my chest look like one solid mass! Nipples aren't irratated as such just very heavy sensitive. Not so much in the mornings but the evenings, which I guess might be because of lack of support in the day.

Emailed for the breast pump, so hopefully will get that. I'm just very concious of getting stuff too early and then something going wrong.

  • Morning everyone.

Happy due date to Harley and Squishy.

Muso- I've found that my skin has got better as the pregnancy goes on so hopefully it's just a phase for you. I still suffer from sore nipples, so no real solutions on that.

I've only had a few people touch my bump, and I really think they do it without thinking. It doesn't really bother me tbh but I guess I would if people did it all the time.

    Question for fattybooboo and Fidget

I see from the prams list that you have the Pliko Pramette, i've been on eBay and keep going back to this. Is it easy to fold down? Would it fit in a tiny boot?!

Currently confused as to whether i want a travel system or not. I don't like them but people keep saying it's better than waking baby up to transfer to pram from car seat.

Seen a Pliko starting at £50 on eBay so have got my eye on it.
