Thanks guys- I know I'm daft to be upset by it but I think it's just because getting in shape for my best friend's wedding is playing on my mind a bit. I can't wait to get back to being active- I miss being able to walk places! My Mum was smaller after she had me and my brother than beforehand, so hopefully I have good genes!
Ali- it's totally natural to have mixed feelings after a mc. Let us know how you get on when you do the test.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
I'm glad that I am not the only one who is worrying about getting back into pre-preg clothes. I keep making the mistake of trying my jeans on, or attempting to get them past my thighs
and mostly they won't go! Even my pair of mat jeans are getting tight round those parts and it's freaking me out as (not to sound smug or boast about it) I have never really gained weight and have always been a size 8/10, so this getting bigger thing is so weird (I don't like it much!). I weighed myself the other week and was 2 stone heavier maybe bit more, but did start as underweight going by BMI, but I am not so much worried about weigh, more the expansion and then not fitting my normal clothes - like others have said I don't want to be spending money on new clothes for me!
I am also starting to puff up a bit and my right side particularly over my left, swollen leg and arm and hands (had to take my rings off as was afraid they'd get stuck on there completely!). So maybe the thigh thing is partly swelling??? I can but hope  however do suspect it might be down to malteser overload lst week and other indulgences such as a whole bar of dairy milk last night......the baby wanted it0 -
Weight - what a nightmare. At booking in, I was 18lbs over a BMI of 25 so "overweight" by medical charts but by everything I've looked at since, I must be losing weight as the easiest to use calculator I found
http://www.gurgle.co.uk/tools/pregnancy_weight_gain_calendar/default.aspx
and my scales tell me I am now only about 8-10lbs over what I should be at week 30 for a BMI of 25. Very wierd, I really only have put on a stone so far, I've weighed a lot more when not pregnant. Scans show that while little one is towards the small end of charts, he's gaining weight at an OK rate so I am not overly worried.0 -
Fidget - I know how you feel! When we got our pram, I spent the evening playing with it...it seriously took 2 grown, intelligent adults like 2 hours to figure out how to turn the chair around (it also took us 30 minutes to figure out how to move the handle on the car seat, LOL)! The instructions are all pictoral and absolutely rubbish for making any sense. Really, the best thing is to push all the knobs and pull all the tabs 'til something happens
. I swear they make these things so impossible for normal people to operate.
Beenie, don't the specs on website usually include the dimensions the thingee is supposed to fold down to? You could find those and then go measure your boot. The problem is that prams fold best when in forward-facing mode, so whenever they're in infant/backward-facing mode, they don't go very small AT ALL.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Honestly some people are idiots, i think i would have said something if i was their as if we don't have enough on our minds. Everyone is different when it comes to losing the pregnancy weight. After DD i was in pre preg clothes after a week with DS it was a month for most maybe 2 for the slim stuff, on the other hand i know people who have still not shifted the weight after years. Although these same people are the ones that drive everywhere and do very little activity that would help shift the weight, they are always on diets but you see them sitting in the car at home time eating crisps so i guess they just haven't tried to lose the weight.
Exactly!
I was back in my pre-pregnancy clothes before I left hospital with both of my two children (so within 5 days for DS and 10 days for DD). OK maybe not looking as svelte as before, and some extra work was needed to regain the tone, and to fit in to everything, but some stuff fitted well, and it didn't take long until it all did.
A lot of weight comes off immediately you have the baby (ie the same day), because a lot of pregnancy weight consists of the baby itself, the placenta and the fluid. The women who struggle to lose weight after the birth are by and large the ones who have used being pregnant as an excuse to eat really really badly. If you eat grossly more calories than your body needs on a daily basis every day, whether you are pregnant or not, you will pile on the weight, and it will take a lot of time to lose it. You do in fact get a bit more leeway when you are pregnant as you need an extra couple of hundred calories a day in the last couple of months, and breastfeeding can burn up to 500 calories a day, so it is in fact easier not harder to lose weight after giving birth than at any other time.
The mums in my experience who complain about finding it hard to lose the baby weight, are those who either started the pregnancy overweight but assume for some reason that they will end it slimmer than when they started, or those who piled on an abnormally large amount of weight during the pregnancy for anything other than medical reasons. If you've been on bedrest for months with SPD or high blood pressure, obviously you are going to put on more weight, but this will go when you resume normal activities. If you've been lying on the sofa eating multi packs of mars bars just to pamper yourself, you'll have to make some life changes if you want to lose it.
When I've been for my 6 week post natal check after both my babies, most of the other mums in the waiting room for the same reason have been a normal (non pregnant) size, and the same with friends who've given birth too. So anyone who has a big event coming up a few months after the birth shouldn't worry unduly about still looking pregnant at it, provided you haven't committed to fitting into an outfit smaller than your pre-pregnancy size, or radically altered your diet from a healthy one to a junk food one for the whole of your pregnancy.0 -

Eek just done this and am at the top end of the range already - must resist the choc!0 -
Nicki I totally agree... ive kept as active as I can and ate what I did previously no extra meals, kcals apart from the odd choc bar too many, but I'm not stressing too much about weight and havent eaten for two, I know that I will eventually return to my "normal" size but will just need to work that bit harder... now isnt the time to worry about losing the weight.. easier said than done I know.. esp when none of your clothes fit and maternity ones are pants...Received £2,626.00 in PPI -2013:j

Have to say though, my eating habits haven't changed too much since pre-preg, I have always been a bit rubbish with willpower and only eating one choccy biccy when the whole packet is available....it just seems that being preg has meant my body has stored more fat, which I have read will be at least partly for the prospect of breast feeding.0
