  • Weezle just a quick question whilst your around. What if any nappie cream do you use, have heard that the likes of sudacream is a no no because it chokes the nappy.

    Hi Helen81,

We sound like peas in a pod - a very tight squeeze in that pod mind you! It is great to hear other people with same stuff going on as you, makes it more normal and bearable. I need to eat all the time at the mo, if I don't I get sick (although Ive been plagued by puking and then moved on to yakky feeling all the way). God, can't wait to get my digestive system and body back!

    Hi All

I'm sending labor vibes to all those who need them right now.

    A plea for views please!

I've been on here before but never worked out how to get on the list!

Baby due on 28 Oct and I'm currently measuring rather large on the scale. I'm only 5'1" and was 7.5 stone before getting pregnant (so quite small). Other half is a massive, big boned 6'2" fella with big shoulders and frame. So given I'm now measuring in for a 9lb baby, what would you do? I'm so scared that I won't be able to give birth safely and the midwives don't seem to take my concerns seriously. Anyone got any past experience of this kind of thing (it is my first so I'm petrified!).

    Ek!

    Any thoughts appreciated.
    Thanks
    Lisa

Hi, I'm 5'1" too and was 7st pre preg with DD, I had her at 38 weeks and she was 8lb15oz and no stitches!
I'm now just about 40wks with this one but am half the size so who knows what he'll weigh!
Just wonder tho when you say measuring for a 9lb baby, do you mean just by them measuring your bump?? Because they can't actually tell from that. All midwifes may give an opinion on baby size but even sizing the baby from ultrasound isn't all that accurate.

In my Ina May book it says that the only people who can't have a natural birth due to the size of their baby are people with rickets so you don't need to worry about baby being too big. It's amazing what the body can do - just think about how much mens bits expand!

Not true. My friend couldn't birth her DD2 as she was too big for pelvis. She managed with her DD1 and there was less than 1lb weight difference between the 2, but that was enough to make it impossible.

Hiya! We don't use loads to be honest cos fergie's never had rashes. A little sudo right in between his cheeks occasionally and a bit of E45 sometimes, but never noticed any residue on the nappy before or after washing! Interesting though, I hadn't heard that.... Was it for the terry type, maybe it gunks up the fibres a bit? :)

Hun - don't worry! I had a growth scan at 35 weeks and was told Jack was 7lbs then and based on the fact that they put on 0.5lbs per week I was expecting a 8lber at least!
I too am 5' 1" and weighed 8 stone - my bump was HUGE.

Jack was born at 37 weeks and weighed 6lbs 3oz, I only lost 50mls of blood in labour and my waters didn't gush so I didn't even have loads of fluid! Just a big bump!

Nicki - Roll on Thursday hey hun? Don't get wound up about your Mum - if it was me, I'd just let the phone go to answerphone. If people know you are in and it's an emergency, they'll phone again!

Harley and Squishy - If I don't get on tomorrow - happy due date!!!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

Not Weezl, but if it helps, sudocreme is excellent if the baby has nappy rash or a sore bottom (or for other minor skin irritations, cuts, bruises, etc) but I don't think its intended to be used as a barrier cream, but an ointment to clear up a problem. It was recommended to us by our GP and we've always used it in this way, putting it on the sore area and leaving i to air for half an hour or so, and rarely needed more than one application to clear this kind of thing up. In fact if it weren't for the fact that my DD can seek it out anywhere and smears it over the windows and mirrors (which is hideous to clean up) one tub would probably have lasted us both our kids with some left over.

I've never seen the need to use a barrier cream with nappies, and neither of my two ever really had bad nappy rash, except DD when she turned 3 and outgrew the biggest size pampers (she has SEN so was in nappies at night for years) and it turned out that she was allergic to something in Huggies which were the only commercially available nappies in her size. Took us a while to work out what was causing the baboon bottom, but sudocreme was very good at soothing it.
