Joint first on the list? When did that happen?

Hiya harley - at least I'm not the only person on the list so far for this month to not have gone early (though I bet saying that you'll go into labour today) :P

Hey Squishy. Don't worry about losing me just yet, got no imminent labour feelings at all. Even my mum and Postman (!) now think I am likely to go 2 weeks over and need inducing. Think you're stuck with me now until you go. What's the bet that I go over into October (which is already my nightmare birthday month)?
I wish nesting would kick in here. I just cannot be bothered and bending down in such a struggle!
Me too GISI, though I have got my act together a little bit this morning but am about to resettle myself on the sofa for the afternoon to watch last nights Waking the Dead and some CSI. It's the size of my thighs that seem to hinder me bending down. Was trying to get into the cupboard under the sink earlier for some cleaning stuff and couldn't even get down low enough to see what was in there. I've decided to take that as a sign that I shouldn't be cleaning hence the afternoon of tv.

  • Afternoon all.

Just about finished catching up on most of the posts on the new thread. Congrats to all the new Mums!

DH and I went to Asda on Saturday and picked up a few bargains in the Baby Event including a microwave steriliser for £10, multi packs of wipes, some packs of nappies (3 for £10) as a start plus got the free Huggies box that had another pack of nappies too. Picked up some cute short sleeve vests too - got to start somewhere!!

As for the bra discussion, I was previously 34B and they are getting a bit tight (I always wear underwired ones) but when I measure myself and put it in on one of the websites, it says it's not a valid size. I tried to get measured poroperly in M&S but gave up waiting after 20 minutes!! Can anyone recommend where else I could get measured?

Breadnall I'm pretty sure you can get measured in Mothercare, they may have better advice regarding fitting during pregnancy too. John Lewis do it too as far as I know.

Glad to hear it's not just me with the funny belly-button the only thing is mine hurts when I sit up and feels like something's going to split:eek: If it doesn't ease off over today I might ring docs tomorrow.

    .....

I had DD out in the pram within a week of having her. Are you going to get a sling or a carrier as it won't do for you to be stuck inside for months. I found that after being stuck to the couch for hours with DD and her refusal to go to sleep, the pram was a bit of a Godsend as it gave me a small amount of respite and space to clear my head. I don't think it's something you should worry too much about though, you will know when you feel you absolutely have to have one.

If you have a bit of muscle protruding when you sit up you could have a hernia - this happened to my sister and she had to go to a few physio sessions. Nothing too serious and it didn't effect her natural birth but it needed sorting out.

Yeah, I want to get a sling - my sister is making me one and I will probably buy another (yet another decision to make!) - I want to do the whole attachment parenting thing but realise it's not totally practical so will probably need a pram at some point.

Also: My sister got advised not to sit up without pushing herself up with her hands so she wasn't using her stomach muscles.

Yes, this had crossed my mind. Glad it wasn't anything serious for your sister though. I have noticed that when I cough it's like something is tearing almost, will deffo ask at drs about it though just to be on the safe side.
