Oooh good news: been accepted for a loan (from JC so no interest though) so yay i can buy carpets now!

Bad news - i'll have to get my finger out and decorate for said new carpets :rotfl: Dammit :(
  • Good list, Kindof! I agree with Weezl's additions. My thoughts are:
Ah right cool thanks, I am going to read up on water births then, cos it does look like something I want to do

Thanks for all the baby list help

This is a list my friend sent me from when she had her DS last year

    Baby list

    Things for hospital bag:

    1- Big Knickers
    2- Nursing Bra’s
    3- Socks
4- Nightie- a couple at least
    5- Slippers
6- Dressing Gown- try and get a lightweight one as the wards seem so hot!
7- Always night sanitary towels + maternity pads
    8- Breast Pads
9- Toilitries – shampoo, bodywash, brush, bobbles, toothbrush, toothpaste, make up, towel, mags, juice, sweets, lip balm (apparently gas and air makes your lips dry)
I've also got baggy PJ bottoms for afterwards as I think I'd be more comfortable in them if I have visitors. I'm planning to wear a BF top with them.
    Snacks and drinks
Carrier bag to bring home dirty laundry
    iPod/music
    Magazines/book for distraction
    Coins for parking/phones/vending machines etc
    TENs machine (if using)
    Camera for first baby pics

    For Baby:

    1- 4 vests
    2- 4 baby grows
    3- 2 hats
    4- 5 bibs
    5- scratch mitts
    6- nappies – 1pkt
7- wipes -not allowed in my hospital
    8- baby towel
9- cotton wool & baby shampoo

    To come home:

1- Baggy clothes for me, ie tracksuit bottoms
    2- Baby coat
    3- Blankets
    4- sheets
    5- moses basket
    6- car seat
    7- cot (mattress)
    8- push chair
    9- bottles
    10-changing mat
    11- baby bath
    12-bottles
    13-steriliser
14- High chair- won't be needed for a while yet!

Another thought I've had is that I now have some emergency money at home, in case I need to get a taxi to the hospital when OH is out with the car. I'm someone who rarely has more than a few £ cash in my purse so started to panic that I would have to stop at a cashpoint on my way to the hospital.

Once i get into it i think i'll be okay but my major major issue is with the preperation side of things. Sanding, painting ceiling, glossing woodwork.

IF i had someone to do that i'd wallpaper for England lol!

Also i'm gonna have to do it while DS is at school, i don't know if it's cos i've been poorly on and off for so long but i have no energy in the daytimes lately. For the last few weeks i've started feeling shaky and dizzy at about 1pm, as if i need a sugar boost, but it's not that, it's tiredness and only goes away if i nap! I've started having a coffee on an afternoon but not helping much.

So that's why i'm so useless, i'll do about an hours work then feel like i might die if i don't sleep lol. Wonder if i'm a bit anaemic
  • I didn't think they recommend PJ bottoms in case your tummy is sore - esp if you have a c/s ??

I still need to get nighties must go into the city this week to get bits for my bag.

LOL EA cat talk reminded me - our cats managed to open the door & get into bed with me last night, I absolutely papped myself thinking I was being burgled at first they were so noisy, bless 'em, they know OH will turf them out so have given up trying but I'm far too soft with them! They're here now curled up under the covers :D

On the decorating front, when did everyone do their nursery? I'm in no rush...lazyitis, OH wants it doing by the end of November, I said fine provided he wants to do it as I hate decorating :D Fitting laminate flooring too so need to decorate then organise someone to come and fit that. Then we'd need to buy furniture, which is a bit scary!

Feeling mega informed this morning - have made a spreadsheet of all the bits you've all mentioned that we need to get & ticked off what we do & don't have :)
