OK so i have already had two so here is some of the things i have learned that first timers may think is ott but trust me at 3 am you'll be thank full.
    To add to the list,
Baby pain killer(may not be needed for months)
    Gripe water or similar
Spare milk(even if BF emergency's happen)
    Different size teats for bottles
Stock up medicine cabinet for you, Nipple cream pain killers etc do a pamper box too!
Dummies/soothers (even if you hate them like me)
Medicine syringe or dummy(tired mummy & grumpy baby do not mix with spoon lol)
Teething aid & painkiller (gel or powders)
Make a list of emergency numbers etc for fridge, saves searching with a crying baby.
Always have spare money for emergency taxi, or fuel in the car.
Mix brands for soaps/baby wash etc in case baby is sensitive to any.

Another thing to add to the list...bouncer chair. I've heard from loads of people that these are a godsend as is sometimes only thing that placates crying baby? We got ours for £5 at a boot sale so not like they're expensive!

kindof - well it doesn't really seem to matter if you plan on having a waterbirth in advance or not, as the hospital does the pools on a first-come-first-served basis so you could honestly decide there and then that you wanted one. Also the MW doesn't go through birth plan until 36 weeks so until then they tend to not answer too many questions about that sort of thing. I just read a lot and inform myself - there's not really too much to 'know' except I learned last night that once you've had the baby they take you out of the pool and put you on a bunch of mats in the corner to deliver the placenta! Dunno why, but found that funny.

Beenie - funny you should ask about what happens if you don't name baby. This was in the US but my sister's fiance has a little boy (from an ex) that was named by a judge! Basically there was custody issues from birth & it was very messy between him & the mom. Well basically it all went to court and since it was all crazy they couldn't of course agree on a name...well when the judge awarded him custody he also just a bit randomly picked a name for the baby!! I think it was one of the ones they had debated on, but still...crazy stuff.

Ah right cool thanks, I am going to read up on water births then, cos it does look like something I want to do

Thanks for all the baby list help

There's been SEVERAL hospital bag packing lists floating around on these Pregnancy threads for the past several months, so doing a quick search bag would help you ladies with lots of different ideas!

After the tour yesterday, I am definitely adding a handheld battery fan to my list as the place was BOILING. They keep it hot for the babies, so your hospitals may be similar.
top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

would like to win a holiday, please!!

Just had a thought not quite for the list but thought it may be something allot may not think of or know.
Find out where your nearest A&E is (ok most will know)
Find out where nearest children's hospital is.
Find out about nearest out of ours GP or walk in clinics.
Plan routes for different times off day. Hope they are never needed.
Find out about chemist opening times and if any are 24hr even if miles away.

With DD i was left in a panic when i was told to take her to the kids hospital and although i knew where it was i didn't know where the entrance was, made myself ill trying to find it.
