Oooh Nikkit I so wanna go to Kiddie Care and have a nosey, let me know what its like. I like the Mura too, we had it in store last Xmas on offer and it was really popular, not seen any back either so thats always a good sign.

Pookie - stay put vibes for you for now xx

Well mat trousers arrived, gonna have a shower in a mo and then try 'em on. Fingers crossed they fit.

agh, I don't have a single nappy to my name! We're doing cloth but want to grab a few packs for the hospital & the first few days. So I've got about half of what I need for cloth ones, but no disposable nappies or wipes...deffo a trip to Sbury's this weekend to use my Pampers voucher before expiry :D

I registered with Boots parenting club so got a free change bag when i bought a packet of new baby nappies (plus there was a £1 off voucher)

I tried to bf with dd but was very impatient and gave up at the first hurdle when I could not get her to latch on. Am doubly determined this time but bit nervous at thought of doing it in public as I don't want anyone to see my boobs lol.
Can anyone tell me how to get around this problem, would a sling be any use, already have a baby carrier but was thinking today that a sling could be useful as well.

I have a got muslins with the hope that I can just cover up with them.
Thanks jha. Im finding it weird being on leave, kinda used to the thinking that I should be doing something productive with my time, but then battling with the fact that I should be resting too, lol!! Think its just gonna take some getting used to.

I had a lot of tears and feeling disorientated last week which was my first week off - hopefully will be a bit more settled now..

Always - glad your baby is OK

We have not told anyone any of our names -we have a shortlist of boys and girls and we will decide when Jr arrives. Maybe even something not on the list - I did mention Karen Jr or Karen the second but for some reason it didn't make the short list:confused::rotfl:
Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

Floyd Peter arrived 9th July 2011 (1 day early) :D

Aless glad the hospital tour was good :)

EA - can't believe your sisters landlord is so ridiculous, what an idiot.

SJ you should so go to Barcelona :D We went this March & OH proposed there, we absolutely loved it, can't wait to go again!

Kindof - SJ & I are in Leeds, where there's been a bin strike...for the last 6 weeks! Some have had theirs emptied - some haven't  I'm frightened to let my cats out at the mo as it's rife with rats and foxes

Well I'm home & in bed, feeling like a real loner with no OH in bed :( Really makes me realise how much I love him though, we live in each others pockets which I know some people would hate but we're happy - it drives his family mad because we're so happy on our own we'd quite happily spend every night/weekend just on our own!! Don't get me wrong we have friends & see them too but there's nothing nicer than watching a DVD together or going out for dinner...we've been together just shy of 4 years now & I can't imagine how anyone could ever make me happier...pregnancy & OH being away from me seem to have turned me into a soppy b*gger!!

Tried to buy a Lottie Ladybird playmat on eBay tonight but I went for wayyyy more than I'd have paid, boo :( I really want this one but it's never in stock near me :(

We have that playmat! Unfortunately none near me either now (even though I have about a million Argos' within a short drive). I bought it about four months ago for that price so I guess it is probably last years style

Oh, I was going to ask, has anyone any experience of the Silver Cross Dazzle? Currently on our list of prams as I can get my sisters carry cot to go with it and save myself £75. Also any views on the name Natalie Erin?

I love that name, Jenny. So pretty. I love the name Erin in particular and I think it works really well for all age groups.

Nikkit- I love the look of that Kiddicare pram. I do love my My3 too though. Can you go to a store to try them all out? I found that when I actually got my hands on them I loved some and hated some.

Kindof- as Aless said you don't need to discuss your birth plan with MW until 36 week apt. My discussion with MW went like this:

MW: Have you thought about where you'd like to give birth?
Me: Yep, at the MW led unit
MW: Good. Any thoughts on pain relief?
Me: I'd definitely like a water birth, probably with Entinox
MW: Good, let them know that you want to use a pool when you phone up to say you're in labour, as early as possible.

That was it! I was all ready to talk about third stage, baby being delivered onto my chest, skin to skin, intevention etc! I think I will just write it all down then take it with me so the MW on the day can see it all!

I'm just gonna have a look at your list, Kindof, and see if I can think of anything else. I re-packed my labour bag this morning. I have all the esssentials but want to pick up a few more bits this week.

Weezl- if you're lurking then :hello:. We miss you!

My MW told me a funny story last time about CHristmas births...she was doing a HB for a couple that had planned on spending Xmas Day at their friends...well she went into labour so they came home to have the baby. Problem was since they had planned on being away, there wasn't a pint of milk or slice of bread in the whole house! MW laughed that she didn't mind working on Xmas but worst was being absolutely starving for the like 8 hours she was there!!! I told her she should've made the hubby go to the corner shop for some biccies or something, hehehehehehe. Moral of the story is keep food at home if don't want a grumpy MW, lol.
Aless, I agree, and interestingly our MWs were all very glad of healthier snacks, toast and marmite bananas and apples being the winners here. They often go 10-12 hrs only being offered biccies and can feel a bit manky and junk-foody IYSWIM?

Hi Kindof- I've added a few thoughts in blue, hope they help:
Ah right cool thanks, I am going to read up on water births then, cos it does look like something I want to do

Thanks for all the baby list help

This is a list my friend sent me from when she had her DS last year
    Baby list

    Things for hospital bag:

    1- Big Knickers
2- Nursing Bra’s- great, and in case BF not successful, possibly also a very firm fitting supportive bra to help when milk comes in with compression.
    3- Socks
    4- Nightie
    5- Slippers
    6- Dressing Gown
7- Always night sanitary towels- Kind of, I found Icould swap to these after about 2 weeks but would have been changing them every 10 mins before then! Invest in some maternity pads just in case, as the flow really varies a lot from person to person. Clots bigger than a tennis ball are to be mentioned to the midwife, which gives you an idea of how frequent/normal clots up to and including a tennis ball size can be!
    8- Breast Pads
9- Toilitries – shampoo, bodywash, brush, bobbles, toothbrush, toothpaste, make up, towel, mags, juice, sweets- energy drink, still not fizzy in case you're one of those who can't keep sweets down during labour :)
10- Codydramol, arnica cream, freezer cool packs, brufen gel and sudocrem for your bits (it's magic :))
11- if you can fit it in, a washing up bowl to fill with warm water and have your first couple of wee's in. (I don't think the jug pouring tip works at all!)

    For Baby:

    1- 4 vests
    2- 4 baby grows
3- 2 hats- you may find this is confiscated as happened to my friend if you let bubs nap in a hat. They are apparently a SIDS risk
    4- 5 bibs
5- scratch mitts We found these came off in seconds and really liked the built in ones on next and mothercare, and I think? M and S babygrows :)Fergus' fingernails were really long at birth and he caught the corner of his eye on day one and it bled quite a bit :(
    6- nappies – 1pkt
    7- wipes
    8- baby towel
9- cotton wool & baby shampoo- The MW's wouldn't let us use baby toiletries or wipes, so you might find you're limited to plain oliveoil, water and cotton wool balls :)

    To come home:

1- Baggy clothes for me, ie tracksuit bottoms- great idea! Apparently staraight after birth most women are the size they were at 5 months PG, so maybe think of a few comfy outfits from that time?
    2- Baby coat
    3- Blankets
    4- sheets
    5- moses basket
    6- car seat
    7- cot (mattress)
    8- push chair
    9- bottles
    10-changing mat
    11- baby bath
    12-bottles
    13-steriliser
    14- High chair

off to catch up some more, sorry if the above has already been said! :o xxx

Thanks Weezl74, very useful post for me. I'm due 28 Oct and have my bags packed but was worried I'd missed stuff.

Might have to go in next week as MW measured me smaller this week than last time (although it is likely just because jnr has engaged in pelvis so comparable measurements become difficult 'apparently' - still nervous though, wonder if anyone else had this?).

Just off to search the threads on decent cot-beds as still have to sort this. Have a moses basket for first month but need to get this bed sorted and then we are all set - I think/hope!

    now what to do ????

    MY3 , excursion or maxi cosi ???

Nikki the one in the photo looks amazing and great bargain, but I'm not sure about the cositoes thingie?

It seems a bit impractical trying to insert 2 legs into seperate trouser leg bits? I'm having enough difficulty with the one that's like a giant leg mitten :rotfl:

gisi hiya :) thanks for missing me, I've been lurking but quiet as I'm down about work :(

Thanks Weezl, struggling to think beyond basics here at the mo so good to see some practical advice from those who've been there before!

Nikkit the pushchair is lovely, looks like something I've seen in Mothercare? & a bargain too!

So I'm still in bed - have now watched last wks and this wks Hot to Look Good Naked, 2 hours wasted!! I'm feeling so mega lazy today. Have also ordered a couple of Christmas pressies for OH, got him an Xbox game from Tesco on preorder with loads of points & some books :) Just watching his flight details, apparently due to land at half past so hopefully he'll call then to let me know he's ok. Wish I wasn't such a worrier!

Not sure if this site is any good or not but looks ok, if anyone could get the chance and have a look and let us know what they think ??? http://www.affordablematernity.co.uk/index.php, Just trying to remain calm at the moment as oh is off work because the " NEW CAR" Overheated on the way to his work this morning :mad::mad:. Also I am starving and I had quite a big breakfast. Just feel like crying but I am on reception and have patients walking in and out xxxx

Also, the Sbury's 1/3 off all nappies is definitely a go; it's on their website now: http://www2.sainsburys.co.uk/instoreoffers/instoreoffers.htm (good thru Tues 20 Oct)
