Think I'm gonna have a sandwich then sterillise my breast pump and have a go with it, it is safe to after 37 weeks isn't it
As far as I know it's only stimulating both nipples simultaneously which can be a problem, causing fetal distress.

Sorry bout your mum. Grief is strange isn't it, coming up to bite you on the bum when you're not expecting it?

elasti - my student MW also had problems feeling baby (well she was measuring fundal height) so asked the MW to double-check for her...they're not supposed to be unsupervised! I'd talk to your MW about it...

It's official. I am a danger to myself and others!! I just went out to the kitchen to get DD a drink and discovered I'd left the hob on underneath the frying pan after I made myself a bacon sandwich 2 HOURS AGO :o

Mrs Ihenetu, I went to the docs when I was 6 weeks and didn't see the midwife until I was 10 weeks.

    Hi Ladies :hello:

No I'm not pregnant again :) My little Lily is almost 11 months now, how time goes, eh. I do have some news that I haven't shared with you all though. I started on a Midwifery course in September, so I'm doing it all from the other side now. I'd love to hear your thoughts about how you feel about having the student midwives involved with your care and what you wish they would or wouldn't do. I'm off on my first placement in a couple of weeks and am desperate not to look like a complete numpty.

edit - if i didn't name her, what would actually happen, would they just assign a name to her? lmao[/QUOTE]

you'll get a court summons lol as you need a name to register the baby... I only know that because I had no name for three months and my parents received one!!

    Afternoon ladies
Well just had lunch and still hungry !!!! Also just done some training in medical emergencies and now know what do to if you faint or have epilepsy attack !!!! The one that made us laugh which i Know we should not do but they were saying that out of anyone the dentist is the one most likely to have an heart attack and what would we do if ours had one, Well there were quite a few answers including " Make sure he's paid us" To " Not slapping the door as we all leave the building" So I am feeling a bit better. However it has me worrying that bumper could get epilepsy !!! But thats just my mind in over time. Also rang midwife as not heard from them since I had blood test and i need iron tablets but she was quite off and said well we have written but if you choose to ignore us, ahhh no love we are not getting any letters.

    Thanks for the hugs girls,

Toto, congratulations on starting your midwifery course :T I had a student mw present at my sons birth 6 years ago, she was absolutley made up and couldn't thank me enough afterwards that I had allowed her to be there..it was her 1st birth, 1st homebirth! I don't think she was that hands on really, but she was good at wiping my face with a cold flannel :D

I've just had a go with my breast pump, felt very strange, kinda brought it all back to me again! I got abit of colostrum out but not enough to store or anything. No contractions either! Baby liked it though, was very active whilst I was doing it!

Ladies with nursing vests....where did you buy yours from??
love my little man he is amazing :j

Toto - congrats! I have a student MW following me from beginning to end (haha) and she's lovely. I like the thought that two people are taking care of me, plus I know I'll have her at the birth so even if the MWs on the ward are busy I've got 1 person looking out for me. I think it's important that she's not afraid to ask for help from the MW when she's uncertain which is better than bluffing to save face (not implying you will, but some might!) - but at the same time is confident when talking to me IYSWIM? I suppose most stuff is pretty brainless - i.e., being respectful of privacy, being diplomatic, not pushing an agenda, etcetc.

    Hey all,
I'm having a joyous day trying to work out if its worth me staying on a work till i can go on maternity leave or going the benifits route. Long story short my boss has made it obvious that i'm going to suffer if I come back. I'm trying to work out whats best financially to do and then health/stress wise.
At the moment i'm stuck on maternity pay, how much is it a week?? If i return to work my wages will be roughly £80 before tax. So I`d recieve 90% of that right?

Obviously I don't know the whole story but he can't do that! I would suggest taking some advice over your rights etc, maybe speak to CAB or someone?
