I'm not sure fidget, I know jillie took some codeine, and we can definately take paracetamol...

seems unlikely to me that anything sold OTC can be more powerful than the pethidine/diamorphine that the hospitals will happily give us.

I guess the danger is that you might think you were in early labour but actually be beyond 8cm, and then anything with a sedative effect could still be in babies system at the birth, which would obviously not be good.

sorry bit rambly, just thinking as I type! :o:D

Thanks weezl still not sure what I'm going to do, I had a really looong labour last time and I thought I'd left it really late going to the hospital only to find that I was only 2cm dilated and they shoved me on the antenatal ward where I had a lovely audience of about 20 chav visitors all eating pies while gawping at me crying out in pain (had been getting full on contractions for about 18 hours by then). I didn't realise then that I'd have another 13+ hours to go .

I'm going to leave it late as I can again before I go in as I've read you can expect a similar length labour as your first if you conceive more than 7yrs later. I agree with what you read about the fear thing as well - I am the most terrified person of anything and everything - that I know lol! I read that small amounts of c-d can pass into your milk supply so will have to think about it some more and make sure I take it well early if I do.

Just found an old post by Glam about what supplements she was taking. I'm on more or less the same plan but it's the calcium thats bothering me..she says she was taking 1800mg from week 34 I think it was then 2000mg at onset of labour but the RDA is 1200 and it says DO NOT EXCEED RDA..so erm..is it safe to take all that?
OH thinks Im mad, Im on x2 iron, x2 EPO x3 cups RLT and x2 calcium! From next week I'll be taking an extra RLT cup a day and upping the EPO to X3 (1 of those being inserted to cervix)

    Anyone else doing this?

mine said the same but I still took the extra. It made my nails grow like mad and Weezl had found a few links when she was pg with fergie.

CAN I SAY HOW LUCKY YOU ALLL R TO HAVE WEEZL BACK AGAIN?? :D

SHE IS A FOUNTAIN OF KNOWLEDGE!!!!!!!

I was worried about mum friends during PG too Somnium :(. If it's any consolation, afterwards I found that other mums are usually very friendly, and are in such a state of flux themselves that they bond quickly with you and are willing to make friendship initiatives sooner than in normal life.

Normally I take ages to make friends, but have genuinely found it much easier than I feared to get closish to new people.

Plus, I find I have less need for deeper chats with mum friends, pretty much someone to have a cuppa with and laugh about poo stories tops me up enough to cope with the rest of the day :)

i made 3 friends @ Parentcraft and got chatty with 3 other mums at BF group, goin to baby group Monday so hope to meet more.

Somnium - I know how you feel - I'm a quite a bit of a social phobic if I'm honest and although I love having friends (and honestly do have them!), I run a mile from situations where I might have to make them such as antenatal classes, parent groups, sling meets (sorry Glam:o) etc. At the moment friends have disappeared a bit as they really don't seem to be able to relate to the pregnancy thing having no kids themselves. Will really have to try to get out of this hiding away business.

aw u should have come - there was plenty of people there so wasn't a one on one situation. think there were about 7 MSE girls there!!

Just catching up but thought I'd tell you about me and DH... We were friends first, met through a mutual friend and he lived in Nottingham at the time, I'm in Leeds. We were both with other people but became really good friends. My bf and the one after him both asked me if anything had ever "gone on" with me and DH! I laughed at the time but guess they knew something I didn't ha ha!!

We met 5 years ago and have been together for 3, just married and now a baby on the way!! And he is definitely my soul mate- I couldn't possibly imagine life without him!

I know sorry, really doesn't make sense when you read it does it? They're back now and still not sure what it's all about I'm just hoping that it's not a gut instinct I'm getting and there aren't any fibs. I'm maybe a bit more paranoid than most as DD's dad was messing about when she was only a couple of months old (after he dumped me when pg and I'd stoopidly taken him back). Really, OH isn't the type to mess about with someone else at all, plus pretty sure he doesn't get the opportunity I just don't like feeling there's more going on than I'm led to believe IYSWIM.

I do see what you mean and I hope you get it sorted fidget - your post does make sense i just didn't want you to think i was ignoring that bit. and just commenting on the much less important cleaning bit :o

oh my goodness  I sure hope this one is a faster and less painful for you:D

Thanks everyone for the pain relief info i was wondering about codine myself - i will check with my gp:D

yeah, I really liked the pool, the best bit was DH pointing the hose with hot hot water at the small of my back during contractions :D

Oohh that sounds really nice!! I will try to remember that one. \do you have any recommendations on what pool to get? I'm thinking of having a pool for my HB

    Hello Ladies and bumps.

Just quickly popping on to let you know that my gorgeous Daughter, Kezia Iris Mae arrived at 5.54 am Tuesday 29th Sept. She weighed 7lb 11oz and is absolutely wonderful. I fell in love with her the minute I saw her and that feeling has gotten stronger every day since.

Think it was a fairly easy labour from what I can recall, but was so quick I could only have gas and air. Ended up with a quite nasty tear, hence having to stay in hospital until today.

Hopefully someone saw some of the messages on facebook and came on to update you. Hope too that Squishy and csh have their babies now too.

I'm heading back through to try to catch up now but vibes, hugs and welcomes to all in need.
