  • Well, it gets put into sandwiches in our house. Hot ones :D I heat up slices of roast beef in a bit of gravy (you can do this in the oven) and part bake some baguettes. Then, I split the baguettes and fill them with slices of hot roast beef and gravy... mmm...

I cube it, add some leftover potatoes and gravy and place in a pan on a low heat for an hour or so. Makes an awesome beef hash
  • How about rissoles? If they are good enough for the queen.....

I usually make Delias rissoles with mine. I had some left from Xmas (we were all ill and didn't eat much) so I chopped it in the processor and made a bolognese. It was delish!

  • Casserole
    Stew
    Curry
    Stir fry
    Pie
    Cottage pie
    Chilli
    Hotpot

The possibilities are endless really! To be quite honest, I'm amazed the question needed to be asked.

Lots of ideas so far so I won't add any but DO NOT PUT MEAT IN YOUR COMPOST BIN! It attracts vermin. Not that you'll need to after reading all the above :)

I make satay beef with mine.
I slice it into strips and stirfy with garlic, ginger and stirfry veg then make a sauce out of peanut butter then either a bit of sweet chilli sauce and soy or some peanut butter dried chilli flakes and coconut milk and cook down.
    Serve with noodles or rice.
    Yum!

    Go the traditional route.

    “Roast on Sunday,
    Cold on Monday,
    Chopped on Tuesday,
    Pie (Shepherd’s) on Wednesday.”
    Soup on Thurday
    Fish on Friday
    Eggs on Saturday

    ;)

And to think, some people believe weekly menu plans are new :D

I would slice an onion and saut!, add thin slice beef and then a large amount of gravy (I use bisto instant) and warm through. QUOTE]

I did this tonight and served with mash and peas. Lovely!

Thank you all for your ideas. I promise to use up any leftover meat from now on!

Changing subject slightly, does anyone do duck for their sunday roast? Tesco had an offer on duck recently but I've been told it's quite fatty. Do you get a decent amount of meat on a whole duck?

    Thanks, Birdy

ah Birdy - Duck is a treat in our house and normally I buy either a couple of legs or a couple of breasts. In the olden days when all the kids were still at home we did have a whole duck for dinner - and it's comparable to chicken in the amount of meat.
The thing is - we didnt particularly like the taste of ordinary roast duck - rather fatty too. especially with mash, veg and gravy! I preferred to portion it and then render it down in frying pan - transfer to casserole dish and cook it in an orange sauce!
(orange sauce was nothing more than a carton of orange juice and few orange slices - when ducky was cooked I would thicken the sauce with some cornflour/water.)
Then serve it with roasted potatoes and some green beans.
