You may not think you're doing it "properly", Lou, but I can't help thinking you're doing pretty well considering it was all new to you not very long ago. (Sorry, that sounds a bit patronising - it's not meant to as I really am impressed - it took me far longer to get the hand of meal planning etc. :T)
Keeping a well-stocked storecupboard is always useful and I hope you keep to that habit, at least, when you've finished your final week. I find there's something rather satisfying about making a tasty meal out of what's already there.
And I'm glad you've discovered the pleasures of ratatouille (or however you spell it!:D) - it's a great favourite of mine, too.
Right, I must go and do some work rather than hanging around on the forum - sooner or later someone's going to spot that I'm not actually working!Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi CCP- how was ur holiday? Hope u had a lovely time..
Yeah, i do feel abit as though i havnt been doing it 'properly' as i started off having a meal plan etc, and the last week i havnt!!
But looking at my store cupboard now, im thinking thats theres nothing i could possibly make out of that!!
I still have my budget though- as have tried my very best to not spend any of it( its a real tight, only if absolouty have to £10)
And no, u dnt seem at all patronising- its nice to hear- thanku v much:D

I had a very nice holiday, thanks. The only thing that could have improved it was a bit more sunshine - it rained most days - but I suppose that's what you get if you take a holiday in the autumn!
If you do fancy trying to make something out of what's left in your store cupboard, you could try posting a list of what's there on the 'store cupboard challenge' thread - people on this site can be amazingly inventive about creating meals out of random ingredients.Back after a very long break!0 -
Lou you have done fasntastically! So good.! Doesnt matter how you got here, the important thing is you got here!
I so need to catch up on this thread..
Found a site dedicated to mushrooms . What about lentil curry if you get some veg? Mushroom rice?
Lentil soup is very filling and yummy and there are heaps of variations. A ham hock would be a couple of pounds if you wanted to use the stock from cooking the meat, put some meat in the soup and then the rest for fried rice or omellete?
Lentil recipes
You have done brilliantly, and i cant help feel you have learnt you can get by on less - although of course, £10 a week is extreme....
If i were you, i would be planning the next shop once you have this weeks money spent. If you invest wisely, you could really make your money go further - it all starts with a good Store cupboard, so you could write a list for that, and build on it with meal plans... or even a couple of batches of mince for eg? A cottage pie, spag bol, chilli etc. Get some in the freezer for later meals too. More exciting mince recipes
Mushroom soup?A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Everyones helped me so much, a few in particular, and i didnt want to look as though i was 'taking a mile...'
Again, really sorry, a misunderstanding on my part..

I think the reason you had problems posting last night, Lou, was that the forum was shut down for maintenance for an hour or so (there was a banner along the top of the forum yesterday but, if you hadn't been on, you wouldn't have seen it).
You definitely don't need to worry about bothering people by posting, at least as far as I'm concerned - the great pleasure of this forum is coming on and having a 'chat' as a break from doing other things.
Hope you're doing OK - only 1 more week to go!:jBack after a very long break!0 -
