Yes, it's very much like using lentils, except that I find lentils cook down so much they're practically invisible, while barley stays obvious even when it's fully cooked.

The only thing I can think to do with the strawberries is to use them as topping for a cheesecake, or pour them over ice cream, neither of which are exactly slimming! :D

Right, I must go and make my dinner - I'm starving! Back later, I hope!

  • yeah, slimming world isnt going exactly to plan- as u can see by my menus:rolleyes: but i lost 1 lb, so tthough its nt much, i think its the good old fashioned home cooking thats giving me my waist bk:D so will see how it goes nxt few wks as i will be following suggestions on here, rather then slim wrld plans. if i lose weight still i will ditch the diet club( and strongly suggest u 2 start a weight group:D so  girls- u lost me a pound in fat:T

Thanks very much for sharing your story - I'm sorry to hear things have been so bad recently, and I really hope things improve for you.

A while ago someone posted on this forum in a similar situation to yours - having young children, in a new area and feeling rather lonely - and several people suggested contacting an organisation called Home Start, which is apparently some sort of support / friendship organisation for families. You can probably tell I don't know anything about the organisation, but everyone on here who mentioned them seemed to think they were wonderful. It might be worth running a search for them - on this forum or on the internet - and seeing if they might be able to help you?

Anyway, that's it for me on the forum for a while - I'm going out tonight and then I'm off on holiday tomorrow, so I'll speak to you when I get back!
    :D

Haven't read to the end but just wanted to say, if you make a Ratoutille (? sp) with the courgettes, tinned toms, an onion, a pepper and a pinch of italian herbs, it freezes really well and I use it for loads of things, with pasta, in wraps, over fish, with rice or noodles, with jacket potatoes, with mashed potatoes (likes sheperds pie).

You sound like you are really getting it together - well done and good luck!
