Hi there! How many are you feeding, what does this include (lunches for who ? and dinners? Is breakfast counted for?)

And finally....... i cant remember what my last question was

OH YES. What do yous like to eat? AND how much of each meat have you? so we know how far they can stretch..... :)

Ok , brain working overtime here he he

If it was me, I would separate it into Bfst, lunch and dinners. I would try and use up what you have first , only using the £10 per week when you have to. You dont have to spend the £10 each week - I would look at it as a £40 to last until x date.

I would also try to incorporate your meat into dishes - like chicken curry, rather than serving the chicken on its own. That way it can go further and be bulked up with lentils and extra veg etc.

Would your family go for veggie meals once /twice a week? Can you do an "on toast" or "toasties" night a week?

Do you bake your own bread? or buy this? How much milk do you go through? These are essentials if for kids etc so might be good to work out how much goes on that so you dont run out?

    *thinking*

Do you have tinned tomatoes? And lentils? Or eggs?

  • Only have one tin toms in at min.. and would luv to make own bread but dnt know how.. we would be happy wiv veggie meals a few times, as long as not obviously a 'missing meat' dish(oh really fussy:rolleyes:) we have lentils, and no eggs in but we always do have them x x

    OK:
Beef mince, lentils, onions, carrots, tomatoes and tomato puree will make a BIG ragu. I would have thought you could get 4 meals out of that - spag bol, cottage pie etc.

On that note, how much pasta have you got? Fry chopped bacon and onions, tip over a tin of tomatoes, some herbs and a spoonful of sugar, and you've got a great sauce.

The sausages, cut up, combined with mushrooms, onions and baked beans is very filling.

You don't seem to have potatoes (did I miss them)? 49p in Aldi's at the moment - you could bake with fillings or to pad out other things.

You can mix the salmon with mashed potato for fish cakes.

Stir fry with vegetables and egg noodles.

Corn muffins for OH's breakfasts from polenta (have you got any eggs????)

Cook the turkey leg, take all the meat off and fry with onions, top with a cheese sauce and combine with pasta for pasta bake.

Soups: lentil or vegetable or chicken/chicken noodle.

    Ratatouille, with or without cheese.

    Vegetable curry

Ham, chopped and fried with onions, stir flour and milk into pan, pepper and salt, cheese if you've got any left - nice as a pasta bake.

That's just off the top of my head - what do you LIKE? Otherwise it looks like lots of pasta...:rotfl:

Have you got plenty of onions? I'd say you need potatoes and possibly eggs...
  • Thanku.. some lovely ideas.. we do like pasta, LOVE mexican foods..enjoy currys and trad english meals...we actually eat pretty much everything.. would u suggest its a good idea to stock up on eggs and pots then? xx
  • Also abit worried about all fridge foods as they have to be used up...have no clue wot to do wiv them...

What needs used up from the fridge? You can freeze a good lot of that. I freeze everything!

If you're near aldi's then I think 49p for 2.5kg of potatoes would give you some good options... if you dice them, add some of your chopped onions and some chopped bacon, zhuzh it all round in a roasting dish with a spoonful of oil and some mixed herbs, bung in the oven for half an hour, add halved tomatoes and mushrooms, cook a further 10 mins to check potatoes are cooked, then break one egg per person onto the top and replace in oven until egg is cooked - that is yummy and filling and you don't need much of the expensive ingredients as long as there's enough to flavour the cheaper ones! Also now might be the time to make puddings - crumbles etc using the fruit you have - as you can stretch the main course more if there's a pudding!
  • do i have wot is needed to make crumbles etc..? i havnt really cooked puddings..x awful i know!!
