  • maybe i got the HM bit in my head, think it was just wishful thinking(hm creme eggs..) no sr flour, have cornflour and plain flour though.. will pick some up when get eggs.. would ur flavoured mini cakes wrk with a sqaure of choc in them? just 4 when i buy sr flour i would like to give ur mini cakes a shot.. ideal for after school treats/ before bed wit a cup of cocoa...
  • If you are doing that, I'd chop the chocolate up and mix it through so they are sort of chop chip fairy cakes. Sorry to butt in!

  • .Sorry to butt in!

Dnt be silly!:p they sound good.. boys will like them.. so i follow zippychicks recipe, then mix choc bits in before putting in cases?
  • would some one mind telling me how i cn cross off my original list so that i cn tick off as i use up stuff... add new stuff on frm week budget- £10 MAX:eek:
  • I would put the chocolate in before the flour, so that they get mixed in properly, and you don't overmix the flour and knock all the air out! That sounds more complicated than it is. I'd also beat the eggs til they're lightly frothing before I put them in for a wee bit extra oomph.

Good luck, it's really a lot easier than it sounds, I've even taught my husband to bake, and he's becoming quite a dab hand - though not as good as me, obviously!;)

  • [STRIKE]do you mean like this?
    [/STRIKE]

When you go advanced in your reply the last icon on the right above the dialogue box is the strikethrough, just highlight the text you want to do it to, or hit the key and it automatically puts you cursor where it's meant to be to type new script.

HTH it's getting late and I've got square eyes.

Jackie- not butting in at all! I was explaining how I do it - there is a thread and everyone elses suggestions - people find their own way don't they? I will try the egg thing myself - always scared of over beating them :o I still class myself a learner too so always open to new suggestions

Lou you can click edit, highlight the item and then look for an icon at the top right of the message - its an S with a line through it? So if you click that it will put a line through but you can still read what it says. Or you can bold the item - highlight it, and click the B at top left.

If you cant see the icons I mean, look at the bottom of the message window and click "advanced options" and it brings you up more options. Once done, click save and it saves your changes. A day or two and you will be old hat at it.

Also dont necessarily be put off a recipe if you are missing something. MOst times ingredients can be replaced or substited, so just ask on here.

You could also put your budget in your first post and how much you have spent. That way you can keep track on here and we can see how much money you have left etc.

    Does that make sense?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Haven't read everything but if you have small amounts of savoury, pizza is very good as you can slice things into small amounts and spread over the top with other things. For example the sardines and cheese with tomato puree as the sauce. chicken and pineapple, bacon and pineapple or mushrooms, sliced sausage with mushroom. It can be once a week and all you have to do is make a base (can be scone base or bread ).
Grated cheese goes further than sliced but sliced can be whizzed in processor anyway.
Tinned fish can be used in sandwiches by combining with a couple of slices of bread made into crumbs and a dob of marg or as someone has said, mix with potato for fish cakes.
You can use yog to stretch sandwich fillings if it is plain not sweetened.
  • hi... have mastered crossing out.. now off to attempt my first hm cake(kind of- packet mix:D)

I'm sure you'll be fine. Let us know how it goes (although, personally, I'd prefer not to know if it's really really tasty, as I don't have any cake in the house and I'll only get jealous! ;))
Back after a very long break!
