Thanks, Zippy - that sounds fabulous - I think I'll treat myself when I get back from holiday!
Having seen the recipe, I will clarify my earlier comment about making pastry - I was talking about making hm shortcrust pastry, which is definitely cheaper and tastier than buying it. I've never tried making my own puff pastry although I keep saying I'm going to - I will get round to it one of these days, honest!
Oh, and my email says that Lou has responded to this thread since your last post, too - maybe the mail server on this site's getting itself confused?Back after a very long break!0 -
It is a treat (or feels like it to me anyway). Not sure how cheap leeks are at this precise moment so that obviously affects the price!
yes well, i get the kinds of pastry confused - which is for what etc. Must learn that! :j
Are you off anywhere nice?
Wonder how Lou got on with those strawbsA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

R u off anywhere nice ccp?
The strawberries were delicious- me and ds had fun making them:D0 -
how strange! Just keep an eye on it, and if it happens again we can let Pink or PP know
Glad you had fun with the strawbs, nice and messy and fun!
By the way, cheese and onion toasties are also nice - if you run out of beans. Just hide the cheese from naughty hubby!:rotfl:A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

yes.. will be keeping an ;)eye on the fridge.. i will prob leave the beans out of the toasties then.. as could give baby a warm lunch wiv them,if any leftover
was curious, does any of u have a 'story' on the getting to know u thread? would luv to check it out:p0 -
egg toasties are also nice (crack the egg in put the bread on top and it cooks, tryst me, it doesnt run everywhere! )
Also nutella and banana? You can do so much with a toastie machine!
Gosh i cant remember if i did that, ill search that thread and look (and cringe if i see my description of myself!)
I do have a pic up elsewhere on MSE so ill stick one up here until you see it !
Nope i never did one!
Basically, this time last year i was serously overdrawn living outside my means. I was 1200 in the red, and needed to fix it. I had become hookd on reading the OS section but something made me register one day - cant think what.
Been hooked since then - this time last year i wouldnt have ever really baked, or attempted making bread or hald the stuff i do. I would have binned heaps of stuff, let it go out of date, and generally bought into consumerism (didnt know any better?)
I paid my overdraft off end of feb this year, largely due to this site
I would have thought nothing about going to the convenience shop round the corner for the majority of my shopping and spending 30 in one go. Now if im treating myself to a m& s dinner, i spend ages running around comparing prices of chips per 100g, refusing to buy the crinkled chips - why should they be more expensive if theyre cut a different shape? Silly things like that!
Now i can live on 50 in a month. Ive completely done an about turn in my view towards food and the whole thing, but was always a bit OS - recycling, reusing, revamping, etc - but hadnt realised.
Im 31 this year, single, live on my own, and have a reputation of being a very good cook amongst friends and family (shock! )A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I'm heading over to the Isle of Wight for a few days - not exactly a far-flung holiday from Portsmouth but at least it's a holiday of a kind! My parents live over there so I'll tie it in with a quick visit to see them - apparently my dad has been storing up jars of hm chutney for me so my bag will probably be quite heavy on the way back!
I did post on the 'getting to know you' thread when I first joined this forum but I can't seem to find my post now. I assume it must be there somewhere and I'm just not seeing it as my computer is so-o-o-o slow tonight!Back after a very long break!0 -
