Anybody doing a bit of early Christmas shopping as part of their challenge might be interested - came across this earlier - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1978955 - £5 off books and CDs, free delivery, and if you go through Quidco you get cashback too. Just got a book for the grand total of 56p!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Have not been updating as I have been poorly and barely managed to get out of bed for the past week, so I may alter my 'to do' this week to simply 1. Get back to normal. I have my BR OR call this afternoon and all I can manage is a rough croak at the moment so that should be fun!

Hi :j
Well done to everyone!!
To keep in step with original post from sallyx, I've decided to amend list to 11 weeks and to calculate some targets assuming a 5 day week so I don't try to catch up water drinking (read somewhere that was dangerous!).
So far:
1 Drink 8 glasses of water a day 10/55 (not bad)
2 Have 4 no-alcohol days per week 5/44 (was so naughty this week!)
3 Learn how to use e-bay and sell some unwanted items No (scaredy-catn - any recommendations? Where is best for selling paperbacks?)
4 Join 'flylady' thread and keep on top of the housework (lurked for a few weeks) Yes and got 4 out of 5 stars yet again last week
5 De-clutter spare room (can only open the door - can't actually get in there!) Partly - did flylady sessions in there and can now get to x-trainer so I can use that if weather is too bad to walk. Bags of shredding have gone out
6 Buy no new clothes (see 5 - that's part of the problem in there) 0/0 (this hurts!)
7 Make do and mend - do one sewing task a day, even if it's sewing on a button! 5/55 (trying to catch this one up - did some repairs)
8 One walk a day for 5 days a week (or use x-trainer) 22/55 (this was easy as live by sea and weather was brill)
9 Organise paperwork Part
10 Complete arm exercises 5 days a week - banish the bingo wings! 10/55
11 Complete tummy exercises 5 days a week - banish the wobbles! 10/55
12 Christmas pressies/cards sorted by 1st December - find last year's leftover bits to use up Part
So not too bad, but the non-alcohol days aren't keeping up to plan.
Hope everyone else is OK - going to catch up thread now

I'm beating the booze so far, sticking to the slim fast and avoiding the scales so far this week (I know its only Tuesday :rotfl:)!
Has anyone given in and put the heating on yet? It's blimmin' freezing down here but I'm still resisting!
Yep! Been on for a couple of weeks and I live in the South East. It is horrible weather today!

Hi Sally and everyone, have been meaning to update from last week and just saw your post saying that people haven't been.
- Stick to my budget and pay off £700/month on my debts Nearly managed this one this one - will be about £670 this month I reckon but won't know exact figure till payday (24 days to go!)
- Do some sort of exercise everyday Doing quite well with this, last week went swimming, to spin class, riding (that counts!) and did a bit of walking and went to yoga last night and swam this am.
- Cook as many meals as possible therefore reducing my grocery spends Yep - had the plasterer in on Friday so kitchen was out of action. Didn't think to plan for it so it was tesco butties for lunch and takeaway for dinner but apart from that success.
- Go for a monthly horse riding lesson as a treat only if I save the money elsewhere to do it Am going weekly at the moment as I am managing to save the money and going to do a block booking to make it cheaper. Will review this at the end of the month.
- Try and find some voluntary work to get involved in my local area Nothing yet, although I did phone up my local furniture donation place and they are coming to pick up a spare mattress on Friday.
- spend less time on the internet and more time being productive Was doing quite well with this but had a horrible day today (had card details pinched and have PMT) so not done so well this afternoon. Will try harder tomorrow.
- Try and catch up with one friend a week Haven't done much with this this week. Will add to my list for tomorrow.
- Get my flat bathroom sorted out ASAP and get the flat rented out Going well, took out bath and sink singlehandedly on Saturday (crowbars are fun!) and joiner came yesterday to fit new door. My dad is coming round on Friday to replace the rotten floorboards and I'm going to measure up for tiles this weekend.
- Spend more time with my grandma (she's 94 and housebound and could do with the company) Need to try and do more with this.
- Try and get a head start on Christmas shopping Not yet - the thought of it is depressing me!
- Start a DFW diary on here to keep myself on track Done, and updating daily...am finding it a good outlet so far.
The one about the constructiveness/less internet is the hardest I reckon. Going to set myself a goal for the next week: No internet during working hours apart from lunchtime.
Hope everyone is managing to carry on - good luck for the next week xxLBM 17th August 2009 Debt at LBM £18,612 Proud to be dealing with my debts.0 -
