:hello:Toots, Lil Me and Fedupandskint
We appear to be watching James Bond judging by the noises. I am waiting for the kitten to come home before I slope off for a bath.
Greenbee - there are five bookcases in here, three in the playroom, one in the hall, and more upstairs. I can't wait till my bookcase corridoor is done which will give me another 20 metres or so of book shelves to fill. I have always wanted a library so this is the happy compromise. I removed a good ten books from the bathroom, and another ten from each side of the bed earlier. It breaks my heart that DS1 hates reading so much . Clearly swapped at the hospital, although he is better than he was.
The only down side is that they do attract dust, and I get sidetracked when cleaning them.
My guilty pleasures are Jilly Cooper, and Georgette Heyer. What is on your junk reading shelf?'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

Boys tend to get into reading later than girls - I remember my mum being worried about my brother not liking reading (he was quite happy to be read to though!), but he reads lots now (and lots of different things). The only down side is that they do attract dust, and I get sidetracked when cleaning them.My guilty pleasures are Jilly Cooper, and Georgette Heyer. What is on your junk reading shelf?and Fiona Walker, Donna Leon, Jennifer Crusie, Freya North & Katie Fforde (although I think I'm finally growing out of the last two), Jennifer Weiner, Louise & Tilly Bagshawe. There are others, but they're slightly more respectable!
I find that I can cull things when I realise that I've looked at them several times and haven't wanted to re-read them. I did mean to re-read Trollope's Palliser novels while I was between jobs, but somehow haven't got round to it
I have far too many cookbooks, but do cull them regularly.
I'm currently reading lots of non-fiction on sustainability/consumerism etc.
I think it's bedtime now. I need to get up and finish downstairs (including putting the fire surround back on!) in the morning.
See you all tomorrow!0 -

I love reading and books too, but I rarely buy books new, get most fiction through https://www.readitswapit.com these days or the library. My guilty pleasure is Jill Mansell. I've recently read some Kate Atkinson and am reading 'The Divide' at the moment, written by the guy who wrote the horse whisperer. We have loads of books though, a lot of theology and non-fiction that we'll never get rid of! Both DH and I were lucky enough to grow up in houses surrounded by books and with dads who read non-stop!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
