I actually enjoy housework and cleaning and after considering why I've come up with this....
* Try to enjoy it! Use products that you like the smell of so that cleaning is a kind of aromatherapy (I don't mean breathe in loads of harsh chemicals BTW!)....Congratulate yourself on the jobs you have achieved....Enjoy the control that cleaning gives you, the power of removing dirt.....Let your mind wander whilst you're doing it, thinking of happy times or alternatively put some music on you haven't heard for ages *
Time saving things I do...
* Dry clothes on a clothes horse for a night (to save money on drying time) then put in the tumble dryer with hangers at the ready then get everything hung up as soon as its dry. No need to iron then!!
* Sort the cutlery basket/drainer into items e.g knives, forks etc then they are quick to put away
* Pack bags at the supermarket in order of how they will be put away e.g stuff to take upstairs, freezer/fridge things (also helps to keep these items cool) cupboard things. Easiest if you load them onto the conveyor belt in the right order.
* Cook in large batches so that portions can be either frozen or taken to work the next day for lunch, leaving more free time.
* Find a routine for cleaning each room then doing it in the same order each time. I find you get quicker doing it that way.
* Rinse any dishes you cant be bothered to wash right then and stack them to make the job look more inviting for later!!!0 -

However, it's a thought that crosses my mind about twice a week...:rotfl:0 -
I have minimal ornaments, put things away when they have been used/finished with.
I always put my WM on first thing in the morning while I am waiting for the kettle to boil. I also fold up dry washing as soon as I get it in off the line and so have very little ironing that needs to be done.
I find it helps to have set days to change each bed and things like towels.0 -

Simple - never share a house with a packrat.
Sadly all 3 of us are PRs so we are doomed.Put the kettle on.0 -
Allocate one junk cupboard - it takes the pressure off (and therefore the feeling of dread / guilt when something that is supposed to be tidy isnt - thats the beauty its not supposed to be tidy:j) , you cant see it with the doors closed and if people suddenly appear at door - you have a stuff and run guilt free place. Hope that makes sense.
Clear it out every so often but then you can do it at leisure!!
Although in my house its started to be referred to as Narnia - hmmm perhaps I use it a little too often - come to think of it not sure ive seen DH since he last ventured in there:rotfl:"I havent failed, Ive found 10,000 ways that dont work" Thomas Edison

great idea for a thread
I was a member at the Flylady website years ago and I still practice a few good habits I picked up there
- swish and swipe the bathroom every morning
- make my bed and turn it down to air
- wash up + quick tidy of kitchen tops before evening tv
- last thing at night I do a 5 minutes tidy in the living room, straighten cushions, take out dirty cups etc... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

My tip is;
allow yourself one treat per day - it doesnt have to cost anything, just something just for you eg half an hour with a good book, paint your nails, a bath with music and candles (basically whatever floats your boat)!
However - before you are allowed that treat you have to do a 'mucky yucky' - my phrase for a job you hate eg. cleaning the cooker, tackling the ironing etc.
it works for me :jWell Behaved women seldom make history
